The "search firm" is not who is "hiring". I'm sure JS has a computer w/Google, and some pretty good saved Contacts numbers on his iPhone............Jeesh............

Perhaps using the search firm gauges interest from prospects while enabling plausible deniability re speaking to Ohio if asked?

Is it now a rule that we have to freak out about everything?

The price of growing the p program and the fanbase. Good in my book, shows real commitment along with following twitter feeds, Facebook pages and having to be warned not to mess with recruits. Throw in threads on next year's line ups/pt and how many stars we need to be recruiting and you have a real basketball fanbase brewing. Blue cool is that? Freak out folks it's all good

John Groce was yelled at for where he buys his coffee in the morning. That's the high water mark for freaking out on Bobcat Attack.

I don't remember this. Was he denounced as a counter-revolutionary/imperialist/wrecker for buying his coffee from somewhere other than The Donkey?

I think I would be more concerned if we WERE NOT using a search firm. Think about. You're about to make a very expensive hire. This will be one of the top 5% in pay of the entire university and one of it's most visible employees. Make a good hire (Groce) and you reap the rewards and financial benefits. Make a bad hire (fill in the blank) and it sets your program back years. Search firms do this kind of stuff for a living and bring candidates to the table that may not even be on the radar. They can also advise on all the unwritten and unspoken aspects of a candidate and can ask questions before it ever gets to an interview.

BC was just nice enough to give us 500K. Investing a small portion of that money to make sure we get the right set of candidates seems like a great deal.

He talked about how much Starbucks he drank in a video.

I was the one who first remarked about that. Wouldn't call it a freakout. Just interesting that someone who loves coffee so much would go to a chain inside a chain when there are numerous good local places in walking distance to the Convo.

I owe you an apology. I went back and looked at that 2012 thread and you merely mentioned it. Somehow it stuck in my head.  Plus, I really do love local small businesses.

But hyperbole is kind of my thing, so in my mind it was a freakout. Again, sorry.

While Starbucks has good coffee (and highly caffeinated in my experience!) the problem with it is that I find it overpriced. Unless its a special occasion, I like to get me coffee from a gas station, preferably one that caters to truckers (TA especially). Its hot, cost effective, and--if you buy one of the high-test varieties--quite strong. I've never been a big fan of local coffee places.

My only real requirement for coffee is that it's hot. I don't even care if it's been sitting in the carafe for two days and tastes burnt. As long as it's hot. I'm whatever the opposite of a coffee snob is.

In the wisdom of Jack from Sideways: "I don't know, tastes alright to me."

Any truth to the rumor that the old Pizza Hut building on East State Street will be turned into a Tim Horton's? My wife said she thought she heard it mentioned.

Big ups for Athens opening a Texas Road House. It's been packed every time I've driven by.

The word I heard was as Tim Horton's and a Cold Stone Creamery in the same building.  As I heard the story they are going to tear down the old PH building and build a new one on the same spot.  I'm not sure, though, that the parties involved have all the financing setup up yet.

Really? I find most gas station coffee to be worse that folgers. Then some of them try to act fancy and use Millstone, which always smells great but has no flavor. Give me coffee with some legs.

I lived on 3 pots of coffee a day for years. On the way to the CBI game at Bradley we stopped at Speedways consuming 3 64 oz mugs. My buddy insisted I was addicted. I drank my last cup of coffee that day. no headache (no brain no pain_)

Like my mum and Grammie that graduated Miami '28 I love a cup of tea. My choice at this point is still Speedway. 2 bags of Lipton Chai and a squirt of French Vanilla creamer taught to me by my friend from New Zealand has been my driving buddy for well over a quarter million miles since that CBI tourney. Not anywhere near my consumption of Speedway's coffee but good just the same. The Hot Chai Latte at Starbucks is very good also.

Sorry for the

1) Chik Fil A
2) Sheetz
3) Circle K

If you are paying over $1.50 for 16 oz. of black coffee, you are off your rocker.
