People would complain about using TRIPS and I just couldn't understand why they didn't use Web registration instead.

In my era, TRIPS was the only option.

yep, there was no web registration, that's why I did not use it :)

Also, Steelers fans and Browns fans had to watch Sunday games together in dorm lobbies, since those TVs were the only ones with "cable".

How did we ever survive?

In Lincoln Hall back in 1978-81, we had the color TV in the lobby only and we had a guy nicknamed "Captain Video" who was there almost all the time.  Kind of an unkempt guy and sat in the front row with a coat on year round.

It took effort to wrest control of the TV away from Captain Video so we could watch something he didn't want to see.

I heard about that guy on a Paul Harvey broadcast. He went on to discover a new species of penguin in the Falkland Islands. Lost a leg during the British invasion there.

I would love to hear the TRIPS voice again.  The entire process of assembling your schedule was exhilarating.

You know, I think the dorm was the last place I lived that had a landline telephone.....and that was probably only because of TRIPS.

zConsidering that my AT & T bill went from 12 bucks for my landline to 34 in 18 months I am considering porting my number to Google voice and getting rid of it.

I think Captain Video was re-incarnated in the early 90s as I saw someone similar on the lobby couch watching the lobby TV constantly.

"No class today, Derek?"

"Nope."

I remember that guy.  I was in Lincoln in 79-80.  Luckily we had TV in our room (and Pong and Coleco Football)
