hahahahah if he thought Athens was bad.......Macomb IL is a college town but man o man is it desolate.

Molinari is headed to Nebraska as an assistant. I remember watching him cut his teeth as an asst under Ray Meyer. He has been around. Coach Miles is getting a pretty good asst.

There are some mid major jobs opening up.

My stepfather is from Keokuk, so I have been to Macomb, desolate is an understatement.

When will we retire the "TOS to..." threads?  They can't go on forever, can they?  They already confuse Bobcat fans as old as 25.  I vote 2018, the 10 year anniversary of his departure.

And that's today's reminder that I am getting old. Wow. It's been almost a decade since Leon's tip in.

We could always do a coaching carousel thread every year to keep up with the chchcchch.changes....

Isn't the AD at Western Illinois a former Ohio staffer?

They also don't know what DOS is, if prompted.

They also might have trouble if they bit off eight or 16 pieces of CP/M.  Please sprinkle mine with a little WordStar to enhance the flavor.

Very clever . . . much better than my attempt at come back.  Who remembers CP/M anyway?

I think it's more of a crime that there are alumni of that age now that never got to experience TRIPS, and have no idea what in the hell it even was.

How about those that don't remember the McBee Keysort system that was used for class registration at O$U when I was a grad student there.  Always thought it funny that the keysort system was used in C-town and not at OU, when the cards were a product of McBee's in Athens.  One of life's little quirks, I guess.

CatFan, I agree.  In fact, I think I will boycott any TOS or JC threads!

The voice of TRIPS ended up being one of my bosses in Athens. When he called me to tell me I got the job, it was one freaky phone call.

Telephone Registration Information Processing Service. A way to register for classes via phone. You never wanted to hear the dreaded, "the class you requested.....(long pause for effect)......is full."

However, this was an upgrade I understand from waiting in line at the Convo to sign up for classes. There was also the teletype method for some of the older alum on this board, right guys? Am I right?

People would complain about using TRIPS and I just couldn't understand why they didn't use Web registration instead.

Geez, I'm getting old... I did the lines in the Convo until the preregistration came around. I always told the high school kids I worked with that I went to high school in BC: before calculators, before computers, and before cell phones. They stare at you blankly when you mention the slide rule!

Yellow metal Pickett, leather side holster on the belt, and watching the other engineering students "slap leather" to draw their out to get the answer first.  Yep......BC.

I used it once ever my freshman year (still largely pre-smartphone, my roommate and I had flip phones, and I had just upgraded from a Nokia brick phone) to register for a class that had a spot or two left while stuck in an outdoor geology lab. Just worked my way to the back away from the TA and got registered for my class.

My wife arrived on campus 2 years after me and she has no idea what I'm talking about either when I say TRIPS. Deal breaker.

In my era, TRIPS was the only option.
