Bobcatgrad,
My first job out of college was as a reporter for Suburban News Publication, beginning in 1983, where I covered Worthington HS (when there was only one h.s. in Worthington). The coach at the time was Bob Miller. I've been out of journalism for over 25 years now, but I just read where Miller announced his retirement. Gotta believe he was the last central Ohio coach that I interviewed a lifetime ago that was still coaching this season.
My younger brother was the student athletic trainer for Coach Miller and the football team about the time you began covering WHS. My best friend's 6'5" sophomore son was called up to dress for the varsity in Coach Miller's last game in the tournament.
Before they split into two schools, Worthington had developed quite a football program under Coach Bob Seaman. Seaman was named the head coach of
Wichita State in 1971 the year after one of two planes carrying the football team crashed and killed 29. Previous, he replaced Earle Bruce as the head coach at Massillon High School.
I wrote one article for the Worthington News when I travelled to Athens to do a story on Worthington HS Graduate Dave Flexer and Cleave Bryant prior to Bryant's first season at Ohio.
