Looking ahead, can't wait for this to be here already. Is this played at the University of Hawaii's arena?

Yes it is played at the Stan Sheriff center. It will remind you of a miniature Convo. Does anybody know when tickets/packages are going to be offered? I want to stay in the same hotel as everybody else and get good seats of course. The field is pretty loaded for a tournament of this stature.

Tim Miles (Former NDSU Coach) Nebraska squad vs. OHIO and Saul in Hawaii.  Wonder if that will be a QF game in this thing.

Something just dawned on me about this tournament as it relates to recruiting.  Shouldn't the Diamond Head Classic be a great tool to convince kids to come or to stay here?

I always thought if I was a highly sought-after high school recruit and I was allowed 5 official visits, University of Hawaii would be one of those five. Maybe my 7-year-old son will be a stud football player and I'll convince him to take me along with him on a visit.

They might want to update the website for this event, as Jim Christian features prominently. I'd upload a pic of the page if I know how...

Must be reading this message board. I just looked, every coach but Ohio's is now featured.

Travel packages are available!

espnevents.com/diamond-head-classic/travel/

Cheapest going for $1,000 per person includes tickets to all games, 5 nights at a beachfront hotel, and transfer to/from the arena and airport. Airfare and meals not included. I'm afraid to look at airfare from Ohio to Hawaii on Christmas week.

Hmm, my wife and I were looking to go on a warm weather vacation during her winter break (she's a teacher). I'll give it a 25% chance we do this.

Did the work for you. Cheapest flights according to Orbitz are $1,500 per person. If only I didn't have to pay back those damned student loans.

the reason I did not make a couple games of Tommy's career....Hawaii around thje holidays is gawd awful expensive. Heading to Scotland to see BBL action will be cheap compared to that .....

Hawaii is always gawd awful expensive. I am going to the games on the 12/22 and 12/23. Having a one year old and four year old prevents me from staying until the 25th. Looking forward to meeting many of you.

Gotta believe these pairings have to be announced soon.  It was mid-July last year.  Still think OHIO vs. Nebraska would create some interest.

I'm hoping for at least 1-2 winnable games. Somewhat afraid we will get a murderer's row that includes Wichita State.

My guess is that they separate Wichita State, Hawaii, Nebraska, Colorado and then match them up with OHIO, Depaul, GW, and LMU.  ESPM makes pairings for their TV purposes.

I like the bracket Ohio got in. A perfect bracket if we kept winning for notoreity purposes would be GW/Depaul/Wichita. Either way I like the schedule.

Can someone explain the format of this tourney to me please.  Is this strictly a double elimination tourney or is there a guarantee for so many games?  If this has been asked and answered before I apologize for the redundancy.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We are guaranteed three games. Our first game will be against GW. Our second game will be against Depaul or Colorado, depending on the results of our first game and the Depaul-CU game. Our last game can come against any one of Nebraska, LMU, Wichita, or Hawaii.

Getting past GW is critical and will be no easy task. I'd love for our schedule to be GW, Colorado, Wichita St. I guess the tournament directors don't believe GW/Ohio will generate much interest because we get the coveted 9:30am local start. The nice thing for me will be the $10 GA tickets which I believe will be good for both morning games.
