Would love for Ohio to use this concept for "Old Zone" nights while the students are away.

I used to think they should have an "Old Zone" anyway. A section where alums or adults can have seats and be loud and stand much of the game.

But, this is a good idea. They need to do something for those games when students are gone.

Yes.
So you'd fly in for the weekend games for this?

Hey, that's not a bad idea. I know the O Zone would be behind it if it meant a louder section...

My wife would find my behaviour appalling.

I'm down.

At Ohio, wouldn't this perpetuate the idea that only the people in the student bleachers are allowed to make noise? This would be a silk hat on a pig. old people who make noise are needed amongst the other old people who do nothing.

Doesn't need to be on the bleachers. Trust me, it's really hard being the only person in your section standing up and making noise.

If you've eaten in the new Shively or Nelson, you'll never go back to Boyd.

the day after the NIU game, I drove through South green and was blown away by all the new dorm construction. Holy cow. I assume then that Nelson had to be remodeled to handle a crapload more students?

I believe it adds a little capacity, but the bigger reason for the project is modernizing the dorms. The plan is to tear down New South dorms as new rooms come online. Lots of information here: http://www.ohio.edu/housing/publicprivate/

I'm a student leader (basically a low level manager) at Shively and Boyd is closing down at the end of the semester to be remodeled.

This was the best part of Nelson. My roommate used to tell me you can't be a sheep at Nelson, you have to be a wolf.

Not to mention I could walk the catwalk (which is being torn down, which is blasphemy) from my dorms of Weld and True right to Nelson. If they are in fact replacing the New South dorms, I hope they rebuild it in a similar way.

I worked at Shively and ate at both regularly. Shive Dive till I die. The only other place worth eating was Bromley. Truth be told, I never set foot in Boyd once in my years in Athens.

Agreed! Tearing down those is just plain wrong! I do wish Nelson was as good back in the day as it is now.

Hell yes, Nelson 'scramble'. Basically that meant mcbin got fed early & often. (Now have been spending the last >10 years combating that!)

What is the reasoning? I know I'm getting old but they were almost new when I came to Athens.
