To add to Ted's statistical analysis:

* NIU has good depth.
* Poor offensive team. Poor FG% and assist to turnover ratio. We can turn this team over.
* Good defensively.
* Very physical. They outrebound their opponents and get a lot more free throws than the opposition. Top four scorers are very good at the line. Avoid getting in foul trouble and sending these guys to the line. Hope we get a good whistle and they aren't calling every contact.
* Three point shooters: Both Armstead brothers and Johnson.
* This team is winless on the road and they haven't beaten any impressive opponents at home. The biggest threat to Ohio is getting outmuscled, outtoughed, and losing this game on the boards and at the FT line. But this should be a win for the home team. Our tough schedule will help.

I feel lost going into this game with no assessment from fake Jeff. Driving down soon and have no travel tips or weather update.

He's buying sweaters for his dogs, Dustin and Geno.

No precipitation tonight but bitter cold. Theres about five inches of snow on ground in Athens. Supposed to be low single digits overnight.

I hope you are right but UNCW had nearly identical turnover numbers and they only turned it over 10 times against us. As bad as the Huskies are in turnovers we are equally bad in turning our opponents over. It's going to be the battle of the movable object against the resistable force.

I remember saying something about being able to turnover UNCW, and it didn't turn out to be the case too much. Fingers crossed tonight vs. NIU is a bit different.

1st half box score shows we only played 7. I would suspect no one else is worthy of some PT. We are in trouble if Saul thinks we only have 7 players and Stevie is so lost out there we are really only playing 6 guys.

His "GO BOBCATS"- which he takes the time to type in every post instead of making a signature- is rather ironic.

Saul continues to state we have improved! Really, what team is he watching.
Tonight was a pitiful performance.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised as NIU came in with a winning record and we all know we don't win games against teams with a winning record this year.

Pitiful would have been an improvement over what I watched tonight.

That was flat awful

It was a sad performance. I think the worst thing for Bean was to have his big 31 point night against DePaul. And how are Tony and Mo so bad defensively inside. Don't be impressed by Mo's blocks. it's like Dwight Howard. Sending three or four out of bounds but giving up easy buckets on post ups isn't impressive. Stevie hustled at times but is officially done and did Treg even play tonight? How about Laster doing NOTHING or the fact that Ryan Taylor plays like he's on depressants? We will be lucky to be .500. It's sad to think that next year we will have four or five newbies in our top 6 or 7...that is telling about how bad our current crop really is. NO LEADERSHIP

huh, I am dumbfounded with the poor performance of this team so far. Looks like the wilderness campaign, part II

I thought we attacked the zone well in the first half, but once we went cold we started settling on jumpers, and that really sucked the life out of us for the last 20-25 minutes.

Before the game Fake "Fake Jeff McKinney" told me that NIU was a sleeper team and that they were much better than their record might indicate. I didn't realize at the time that OHIO would sleep through this one. We seemed totally out of sync most the game, save for the first two minutes. In his post game show Saul said that he didn't understand why Mo didn't get the ball more in the second half. He seemed to implying that the team was not playing with a very high BBall IQ and not distributing the ball well, and not setting picks for the right guys and not hitting the open player. I do remember in the first half one very good possession in which there was a good deal of passing, penetration, ball reversal that ended up with a three by either Bean or Taylor. But, there was not much more of that. I don't know why we just wilted like a flower in the desert in the second half. I fear that this is going to be a very long season, kind of like with football. We will probably improve as the season goes along, but unlike football we'll have the potential of a second change once the MAC tournament roles around.

Thank goodness there were only 5743 folks there to see the game tonight. :)

Interesting too that all four road teams won tonight.

The Convo was empty and about as loud as a funeral. I'm sure NIU felt right at home. I jokingly asked one of their guards if he had ever played in front of a crowd that large.

It was rough. Old folks and families alike (even the regulars) stayed home due to the cold. And of course students out until Monday.

I'm old and I'm regular and I was there, and so was Al Swank, and he's no spring chicken, either.

I heard quite the opposite. I thought as a coach that is usually very pro player like Groce used to be..... he was on the opposite end of the spectrum tonite as he was obviously disappointed with shot selection and decision making.
