I live in Chicago and the one time we play these guys is in Hawaii. Maybe the way we are playing it may be a good thing. Come on Bobcats muster up a win!

You must be a young man, urban.

Ohio hosted Ray Meyer and DePaul in a Convo Classic on St. Patrick's Day, 1983. We also played there around this time once, maybe twice.

Jeff Thomas hit a half court shot as time expired in the first half and the Convo just erupted in an explosive cheer. Big time memory.

+1,000,000! The Convo was big-time loud that night! What a game! That's when DePaul was relevant on the national scene.

For me this becomes nearly a "must win" type of game. Not because there are high stakes if we lose, but after being thoroughly embarrassed yesterday, I'd think it's very important for OUr guys to come out and show some urgency, some pride in their games. At some point, I have to think it's time to have a game to set the tone on how we're going to play in terms of defensive focus, and overall effort. Shots might not fall, but effort and team defense have to be more consistent at some point.

I hope this is that kind of game for OUr guys.

if I understand the format of this tournament correctly, we win against DePaul and we play the winner of the Nebraska v Loyola Marymount game to decide 5th and 6th place, lose and we play the loser for 7th and 8th. is that right?

I'll be happy if we get out of there 1-2 regardless if its in 6th or 7th place, 2-1 and 5th place would be a surprise.

I doubt we win this game. I will say if we shoot fewer than 20 3-point shots and hold DePaul to fewer than 65 points we have a chance.

The thing I would say about BB right now is: there is some talent there, even Saul says so. Are you negative nellies saying he can't id talent? More importantly, I think the Coach is trying to put a bunch of square pegs into round holes and it just ain't working (way too many 3s by guys who are not shooter/scorers, not enough assists, and on and on) YET.

It's early so I give the Coach a break. If he is here 10 years from now and has play like this, I doubt anyone cuts him any slack!

If the play in 10 years is like it has been this season, he will not be here in 10 years.

Agreed. Counting the Evansville OT, we've scored 49 pts in the last 45 minutes while giving up 89. Saul is a very easy-going guy in public (maybe not in practice or the locker room) and this seems to be rubbing off on the team. We need a monster game from our bigs. Hamilton is 6-11 and had a double-double yesterday. And they have a 6-10 backup. We can't afford to give them a lot in the paint.

I don't take anyone here to be a "negative nelly" so much. I think some, myself included, have lowered their expectations for this season. As you said, the coach is trying to put square pegs in round holes. These aren't his guys and hes doing the best he can to implement his system with guys that aren't his type of guys. I don't view this interpretations as being negative nellies, just realists. If we are having the same problems 3 years from now, I'll start to worry...

We need a big game from bigs, yes. But we also need to see the guys feeding them the ball to get them the ball in the right place, and at the right time.

I like that coach is looking for defensive effort and focus in this game specifically according to his pre-game interview.

Nice all around effort. Fixed some ugly stuff from yesterday and it always looks better when three ball drops. Tony and Treg with much better energy today. Good win!
