The sub players practice like everyone else and can't get one minute to feel like part of the team. The team can't even practice with 7 players

But just one minute of Chandler Thomas couldn't hurt?

More than the 20+ games we are on track to lose, who cares. Empty the bench.

I agree. I don't understand why we haven't seen more of the bench on the floor. [For you scoring at home, don't take that sentence literally.] The only explanation that I've been able to come up with is that at this point Saul has a very big "dog house" with about half the team in it. If this theory is correct a lot of guys aren't playing right now because of lack of effort in practice, violation of team rules, attitude problems, etc. Just one man's hypothesis.

I know for sure that one of subs was told that they would not have a scholarship for the next season. So I know why he is getting passed buy when it comes to substitutions. Thought scholarships were pretty much a guaranteed if you didn't violate any team rules? Can't explain why any other of other players aren't seeing the floor.

And kudos to the P5 Conferences for voting this exact thing out of existence!!!! Scholarships should not be lost with new coaches, if true this is simply wrong.

This is the truth! Students first and athletes second, each student/athlete invest into the program. To have that taken away is a big deal fot the kids academics and futute. I see why so many student/athletes tranfer when there is not a full commitment from the athletic program.

You're telling us that either Setty, Chandler, Wadley or Harley has been told that his scholarship is being pulled next year? I don't believe you.

I'd concur with this statement, but it wouldn't surprise me if 1 or 2 of them chose on their own to go elsewhere with more PT as their motivation.

The Chandler Thomas fiasco pretty much sums up the year. At this point, a wasted scholarship until proven otherwise.

I just don't get the lack of communication at this point. Seems like we heard all about his transfer and then the issues with the paperwork. Now? It's like he's not even on the team.

I hate to have to say it because I have read here he is a high character guy, but he was a bench player for one of the worst teams in the country before coming here, right? Have we considered he may just not be that good?

Edit: I just saw where he is a grad student, so I assume he has one to play one, since he has also been an undergrad transfer as well.

I continue to be baffled by others being baffled over Chandler Thomas' role. I guess it is a little surprising he hasn't had literally even a minute, but he was never going to be in the regular roation. I will once again quote our own Ted Thompson, who paraphrased this from Saul at the Dayton Caravan:

"Phillips said he won't take a lot of transfers but some here and there to fill holes. Said Thomas is a high-character guy. Phillips told him he would back up Ndour this season and that they would potentially recruit someone ahead of him the following year. Thomas told Phillips he just wanted to be a part of the Ohio program."

I see what you're saying Andrew and the reasoning, but not even a minute? If he's just a practice player then why waste the scholly?

Very interesting quote. My translation of coach speak:

"We've got a few guys on this team who lack character and are kind of rudderless. The other good guys on the team aren't leaders. So, I'm going to give this guy a scholarship so that he can be a role model for these other players and take a leadership role in the locker room. I don't really care if he ever sees the floor during a game."

This is just one man's translation. Alternate translations solicited.

Absolutely mind boggling to waste a scholarship on a guy who wants to be part of the program, but might not have the ability to contribute. This one is on Saul. Given our lack of depth, why doesn't someone like Arkley or student media member ask Saul about this more in-depth?

As for Wadley, how does this guy come back next year? From starter at Florida Gulf Coast to zero minutes....just bizarre.

Probably because he's from Florida so he got to start on a "homecoming" game. Campbell came in for him at the 1st media timeout.
