Alan, is it due to cold temps? Road conditions? Too much snow? Sounds like southern Ohio is getting hit harder than the state's mid-section.

I thought OU was closed the day we were supposed to play CMU up there a few years back. Busses to WVa and flew out. Russ was nervous. 2011 I think, Maybe I just imagined it. Roads were clean and dry once I got north of Ft Wayne that trip

Here in Athens it's the cold. In extreme southern Ohio, they got lots of snow. My guess is that many schools up your way may close tomorrow or at least go on a two hour delay due to the cold.

It's pretty rough here. Only got into the low 60s.

Wimpy administrators who have no clue about how this really screws up some of us academics and our classes. No snow, just cold, no reason to call off school. It's not dire folks!

Up to -20 to -30 windchills.. I get it.. It's one day of classes.. Not gonna hurt much. I'm sure professors will email out reading and assignments if there is something super important.

What, you might have to do something creative rather than delivering the same old boring lecture for the 20th year in a row? Welcome to the real world.

10 inches shut down both the Southern Campus in Ironton and the Proctorville Center the first half of the week, and it's looking like the cold will shut them both down the rest of the week.

They have a set criteria (Level 3 emergency for snow, -20 wind chill for cold).

It meets the criteria.

I'm a current student here at OU. Last year we had two days cancelled one for excessive snow and the other for extreme cold. This one is for extreme cold as the windchill will be below -20.

Why, back in the day we had classes no matter how cold or how much snow. Had to walk up Jeff Hill -- both to and from classes. Ohio closed only for the riots after Kent.

My first day at Ohio was the day before Easter 1970. It was 80 degrees and sunny. Woke up Easter Sunday and it was snowing to beat hell. Wound up with about 10 inches. Had classes the next day.

Most central Ohio districts have closed for Thursday. My guess, they'll do the same for Friday. Completely messing up school districts' PARCC testing schedules.

No joke: The University has officially advised students to "walk like a penguin."

Seems Mother Nature is also anti-PARCC testing.

the college may be closed but Quad Night will be on, amirite fellas?

in my day I'd be making that trek in negative wind chill, and walking back afterwards with a belly full of Burrito Buggy.

I remember the Blizzard of '94 shut down campus the entire week of MLK Day and some professors made up the 4 missed days by scheduling classes on Saturdays for a month. That's just evil.
