Its sad that the play of the game for me was just now when Treg made krondude pay for going to the hole. FINALLY..someone who at least shows me he cares.

I've had just about enough of the ESPN pbp guy. He's made it pretty obvious all night that this game is just a lead-in to the Valpo-CSU game.

really? you didn't hear them go on and on and on and on about OUr program, the success we've had, how good of a hire Saul was, the good work by Tone, the potential of Mo, the legend of DJ Cooper, etc? You have very selective hearing.

We only remember such things after a win. Collective memory is much better with a "W" rather than an "L." Interesting psychological phenomenon.

I heard that and was a bit shocked. Jeremy Guy could not have been happy them taking valuable time away from certain NEO programs to tout the good stuff going on down in Athens. Lauded the Saul hire and the direction the program was going despite having had 3 coaches in the recent past.

Jeremy was probably at dinner somewhere. Didn't even bother promoting tonight's game on his Twitter.

Yeah...and it was.

But they were very gracious of the Ohio program overall.

Fixed it for you.  At least our game resembled basketball tonight.  This game has been nothing but a physical tackle fest with a football score to match.

One of the worst teams in OHIO history.
So many guys are just so unproductive and listless on the court.
And Saul should remove all players twitter accounts...embarrassment.
Bring on 2015-2016 and the new guys.

The female color commentator was not the first broadcaster this season to incorrectly say that all 3 seniors on this team are playing for their third coach while at Ohio University.

And, as someone brilliantly mentioned earlier in this thread prior to tipoff, how about Akron's freshman point guard Antino Jackson?

The ball movement on some of those Akron possesions was a thing of beauty. I hate to even say this but is Stevie the worst shooter in program history? At least in recent memory?

You're quibbling over semantics, Bean and Mo are at Ohio and they are on their 3rd college coach, hardly an egregious error. She also talked about Stevie being the only senior that's been at Ohio for all 4 years.

And it's not like she's the beat writer for the Zips that thinks Bean's name is "Willie Alvarez". http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/men-s-basketball-ohio-83-...

It helps that one of the announcers has a sister in the Marching 110.

J Guy sent 2 tweets about the game AFTER it was over, and sandwiched them between tweets about the Cleveland Browns. Classy dude.

The pbp guy pretty much gave up on our game with about 8 minutes to go, even though it was still within reach. That's a cardinal sin among broadcasters. The color announcer/analyst kept coming back to our game and the two programs we were watching.

Back to the game..

Zips fans seem to think their bigs were impressive against ours last night. Compare the 2 sophomores, Campbell and Johnson-

Big Tone: 27min. 7-10 (0-3) 3-3FT%, 17pts, 11reb, 3blk.
Big Dog: 25 min. 5-10 (0-0) 2-4FT%, 12pts, 3reb, 1blk.

Mo had a rough night shooting but still managed to finish with 13pts/7reb while Forsythe had just 8pts and 2rebs, including 0 offensive boards. In all I thought we held our own down low.

Another comparison of interest, without commentary-

Bean Willis: 25yrs old. 4-12 (2-7), 3-4FT%, 13pts, 1ast, 3TOs, 2reb.
Ant Jackson: 19yrs old. 4-11 (3-7), 2-4FT%, 13pts, 5ast, 3TOs, 3reb.

Thought the announcers were complimentary to the Bobcats, explaining the coaching turnover, pointing out how well Campbell was playing and how successful Saul has been in the past and how the program is in good hands.

Bean went to the line four times, which was shocking. But he had the ball stolen on one-on-one defense for the second straight game.

Too often the matchup down low last night was Isiah Johnson v. Treg Setty, close to a 100-pound differential.

While it looks like Saul is bringing in good players in the 6-2 to 6-5 range, my crystal ball says that the frontline is in dire need of some backup help in the near future.

I thought the color commentator overall did a really good job, despite some mistakes. She pointed out stuff during the game that is absolutely true about the xs and os.

She did get in the seemingly ubiquitous "MAC Conference" at least once.

Brooke Weisbrod is pretty good. If you recall, she did the game 2 years ago when Stevie hit the 3 in OT to beat Kents.

I really enjoyed her repartee.

Did a little nosing around and found her website. I like the women who are going from sport to casting. Like Allie she has a firm background. Following in the footsteps of Linda Cohn who made the men's ice hockey team. I think those gals getting in with athletic background and competitive fire at the next level are more in tune with the games they call and report.

Brooke is pretty good. http://www.brookeweisbrod.com She brings decent and knowlegable commentary
