I'll be real disappointed if we go to some kind of plastic!
Must be referring to the cheese on the concession pizza.

Fun fact: the american cheese tins in the c-ration packs back in the day listed plastic as one of the ingredients. It must have been there to counteract the effect of those big malaria pills.
Anyone recall the name we gave to the cans with ham and lima beans????? Points given to all except OCF who never got those things on the oil tender.

One reason to outsource the concessions is to reduce liabilities while maximizing profit margin.

Trust me, as bad as concessions are now, they would be worse if Ohio tried to make the arrangements fit within the University bureaucracy.
My guess is they'd be better (how could it be worse, really) but Athletics wouldn't make any money.
At $3 for a soft drink, $3 for a bottle of water, $5 for a slice of pizza, $5 for nachos and volunteers running the booths as a fundraiser, I'm not sure how anyone could NOT make money on vending at games. Many high schools have this worked out very well. Although, it doesn't involve a university bureaucracy.

Back to the roof thing for a sec, here.

I'm all for letting the engineers certify the roof before they hang any more big, hard things from it - however long that takes.

I also don't want to see involved the name of any firm that has a hand in justifying the continued existence of the current Buckeye Lake dam. (Out-of-towners, you can look it up)

I refuse to purchase anything from the concession after the last time when I purchased one popcorn that was stale and a soft drink that came in a non-recyclable plastic cup. $6.50. O'Bettys, Jackie O's, Shagbark popcorn, as was mentioned, would get me back there. But you can sneak water (or whatever) in easily if you are a male as they only search women.

As I watch tonight's NCAA Tournament game I am amazed at how a little TLC and modern updates can make a 1960's arena look great! I am hoping new seats and perhaps a new scoreboard (couple years away) will have the same effect in the Convo. In terms of site lines and the overall look of the arena I will take the Convo over UD Arena any day. But it's obvious that UD Arena has seen more updates over the years.

I agree on the UD Arena. I would not really count it as a 60s arena as like my ex born Dec 28 1869 is not a child of the 60's....but your point is well taken. Ted can probably tell us more about the upgrades that have taken place the last few year. I am in there a couple of times a year for HS games and the WGI world championships. Always a good time with great sightlines and atmosphere...even back when i saw Elton John there in the early 70's. Playing on that old Tartan floor was brutal though.
