I actually don't think Murray State should be in.

But "eye test" simply means, "I wanted them in." There's just no other way to explain it. You're not using any objective criteria or even their resume; you just decided you'd like to have them in.
I will fall back on what I said last week. Murray St was a top 25 team as ranked in the poll prior to a step-back 3 in the final seconds of their conference tourney title game. And after said shot, they are not in the field of 68. I'm done.

The committee will pick the teams, THEN find which criteria best supports their decision.

I can certainly see the argument against Murray State. No way can I against Colorado State or Temple.

One thing to consider here is that the committee, I don't think, has any say in "Top 25". And frankly, Top 25 polls in basketball are good for hyping TV, and not much more these days.

Yeah, the top 25 has no official bearing on the selection process. I don't think they should've been ranked either, but that's another issue.

My biggest questions are these:

(1) If you put Cincinnati in the tournament, you almost have to put Temple in too. They basically had the same resume. And Temple even had a victory over #2 seed Kansas. How can you justify leaving Temple out over UCLA/Texas/OkSt?

(2) So if UConn won the AAC Tournament, Dayton would have got left out of the tournament altogether? OK...

(3) Duke, which didn't win the ACC regular season championship OR ACC Tournament championship is a #1 Seed. How?

(4) Why is Xavier is a #6 seed and Wichita State is a #7 seed? Is the Big East really THAT much of a grind these days? And Northern Iowa is only a #5? But Georgetown is a #4?

(5) UCLA scored 7 points in a half of college basketball. SEVEN points. That is not a tournament team, but the committee chair says they passed the "eye test." What eye test? By that measure, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and any other team UK slaughtered should be in.

All excellent points, and all proof that some of these guys are picking to make someone like Vegas, or their TV partners happy.
It's not making Vegas happy. Vegas would be much happier with live dogs that would upset traditional powers.

Realizing there are some on here who could care less about Notre Dame, I ask that you consider the following "travesty".

Duke goes 29-4 with no ACC title (regular season or tournament).
ND goes 29-5, wins ACC tournament title and beats Duke 2 out of 3 games.

Duke gets a #1 seed while ND gets a #3 seed and place in the same bracket as Kentucky.

You won't hear me disagree with all of the seeding discrepancies. Thank God the games themselves will make up for this year's selection and we can focus on that starting tonight.

Actually, I think this simply proves that the committee is collectively brainless and no conspiracy exists. How do you justify p&&%$#g off the nation's largest self-acclaimed fan base? During Lent, no less. Sweet Mother of God!

For years, notre dame football has been given preferential and unwarranted treatment by pollsters and bowl committees. I hope the taste is bitter. Screw 'em.

Like, for example, in 1994 (I believe was the year, maybe '93) when ND and Fla. St. each ended the year with one loss and ND defeated FSU head-to-head, yet FSU finished as the national champs and ND finished second?

Duke finished ahead of them in the regular season by a game, small deal. Duke has wins at #1 seed Wisconsin and #2 seed Virginia. Plus, they had a better schedule, tougher ACC schedule, and beat more NCAA tourney teams. I believe Notre Dame was the top #3 seed, so S-Curve + geography puts them in regional flowing into Cleveland. Bigger argument is why they weren't a two over Kansas, but Big 12 considered by most to be best conference this season is likely why.

Look at Duke's resume man. They beat Wisconsin and a healthy undefeated Virginia team on the road. They lost pretty close at ND but then absolutely destroyed them in Durham. Beat Louisville on the road, NC on the road. Beat MSU.

Those are a lot of trendy picks to go very far and Duke beat them all. Head to head means a little bit, but if they also destroyed ND in the same season it means a little less to me.

Just my opinion of course. Should have had ND as a 2 instead of Kansas, but Duke should definitely stay as a 1.
