You just failed American Culture 101. DOH!
I really hope you're young, like under 22 or so, and I'll give you a pass for not knowing the reference. Or over 70. Otherwise, there is no excuse.

Sadly, 70 shouldn't be given a pass either. If you are 70 today you would have been 33 when the movie came out. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son. But there is a 26 year old kid in my office that has never seen the Godfather, the Exorcist, Animal House or Caddyshack.

I'm still trying to get over someone not being familiar with one of the greatest lines in movie history. Anyway, seeing this is a tournament game one would think the league would oversee the video broadcast situation and make sure the games are free. I'm not paying either. Will go back to earlier times and go audio only.

I'm really disappointed, but not at all surprised, at how poorly the MAC has handled the transition to ESPN3. When the new deal was announced last summer we were told that starting with the '14-'15 season 3 MAC schools would upgrade to ESPN3 every year over the next 4 years. For reasons unexplained the MAC immediately backed out of its efforts to offer every webcast on its website leaving every team to fend for itself. As a result WMU, Akron and several other schools began their own pay per view streaming, trying to make a buck before their school transitioned to ESPN3. Why would the MAC allow this and not maintain continuity throughout the transition?

Its been nearly a year since Buffalo, CMU, and NIU were selected as the first 3 schools to upgrade and there has been zero communication about who the next 3 will be and what the criteria is for choosing the order for the remaining 9 schools. If the next 3 up aren't some combination of the biggest fan bases (Ohio, Toledo, Akron, Kent) then the MAC will have some serious explaining to do.

Finally, how does the eventual upgrade affect our broadcast team of Rich and Rob. I'm assuming they take over the TV broadcast too but don't know for sure. Lots of questions, zero answers being provided.

Well, I'm just 70 and I know about the movie reference. It still grates my nerves every time I hear someone repeat it. I guess it's because I'm afraid some dufus will take it literally and think that's what actually happened. It reminds me of the college girl I saw interviewed last July 4th on the beach. She was asked, "Who did we get our independence from?" Her answer: "France." I'm constantly amazed at the poor quality of history education today.

Appears that when you're 70, you repeat yourself, too.

Just called up the link for their women's game and it took me to the log-in for the pay requirement. Very weak on many levels.

"Who did we get our independence from?"
I don't like this question.

We didn't "get" our independence "from" anyone. We took it for ourselves.

Whenever you see someone from the MAC offices failing miserably at all aspects of their job in the worst possible way, just try to remember that you are dealing with someone that couldn't get a front-office job with the Cleveland Browns.

I believe the last time Ohio was an 11 seed was the 2003 tournament. The Bobcats went to #6 Akron and won on a Brandon Hunter tip in at the buzzer. The cats went on to make the semis that year. So it's not over...

(Begin Green Koolaid) What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! (end Green Koolaid)

Note: We were the 11 seed that year at 8-10. Akron was the 6 at 9-9.
Didn't Germany's bombing of Pearl Harbor lead to our independence from France?

Eagle66, this is a good point. Anything can happen come tourney time. The Bobcats have proven that before. Let's hope the fire they showed vs. Miami continues to be there for these seniors and the rest of the team.

For the first time in 6 years, there will be no post-season for these seniors. This is the only "one-and-done" they get.

Considering the talent on that '03 team, it's amazing we were an 11 seed. Hunter, Esterkamp, Sonny Johnson, Delvar Barrett, Jaivon Harris... I think we had some injuries during the year, but "MAC semifinalist" seemed like a much better representation of what that club was than "11th place in the regular season."
That was one of the most underachieving teams to ever wear the green and white IMHO. Going into the season I know a lot of my fellow O-Zoners (it was our second year) believed that we would get to watch a special team. Short of a win at home over an average Virginia team it was pretty lackluster-especially coming off of a year where we tanked at home against CMU in the first round of the MAC tourney. The next year was even worse. I think those three years spurred a lot of talk as to wheter or not we were really better off with O'Shea. Of course in the 04-05 season we ran through the MAC tournament but those were disappointing years leading up to it.
Still well behind 1988-89 team in underachievement. Finished last in the MAC despite having Ohio's top 2 scoring players in history and future NBAers Snoopy Graham and Dave Jamerson. I believe that team is still the only team in NCAA history to play 2 NCAA games on the same day.

I have been kind of negative when it comes to Khari just because I feel like he is taking up a scholly but he really has improved immensely for a first-year player (redshirt). I hope he stays healthy too. Seems like a good guy and quality program type player.

Same quality of education. (Different parents.) Slightly more dumb people. Greater access to dumb people.

We had this one!!! I was content with finishing off the year when I believed pre-game that we would mail it in and lose by 20. But being so close and leading like we did is like one more knife to the arm that has been this season. I point directly to how when I listen to Russ call the game and he calls the other team's offensive sets and there is ball movement and teamwork yet when it's our turn it's outdoor street ball. I truly hope Saul was just calling this year a wash and is a better coach with his own players because he straight up did NOTHING tonight to help this team. The only reason we had a lead was our team's hot shooting. NO ADJUSTMENTS WHATSOEVER. On the other hand, it seems like Steve Hawkins adjusted defensively and held our guys down when it counted. Like I have said before, good luck in future endeavors to Bean, Stevie and Mo. I feel bad they had to end their careers with this pathetic season. And I really do hope that Saul Ball turns it up next year because I entered the year excited about Saul and have left it wanting more and being a bit disappointed in the job he did.

Bobcats can beat anyone in a 25 minute game, unfortunately every game this year lasted at least 40 minutes.

The end of a long season for Ohio basketball. The good news the expectations and pressure will be a lot less on the incoming players. With a new backcourt and go to scorers next year its likely a rebuilding year again. Years 3 and 4 might be more realistic to expect Ohio to return to the typical top 5 MAC basketball program.
