Now that Ohio's season has ended, anyone up for some "daily discussion" about the rest of MAC tournament, and other conference tournaments and the NIT/NCAA's like a few of us had early on in the season?

Yes.

Everyone knows the Ivy League is the only conference to award their bid to the regular season champion. This year, there is a one-game playoff between Harvard and Yale. Saturday at 4:00 at The Palestra. Yes, please.

I've got a hunch the MAC final will be Kent and Central with Kent winning. Don't ask me why, just a hunch.

Wouldn't you love to be at the Ivy league playoff! Any idea if that Ivy league game will be televised anywhere besides ESPN3?

As for the MAC, I can't pick who I'd expect to see. I can't remember a year like this where 5-6 teams are good enough to win. This is actually why I'd like to see seeds 3,4,5,6 get the same level of bye. I think Buffalo is clearly the most talented MAC team. My question is whether or not their guards can rise up? After them, I guess I'd favor CMU or Toledo because of Fowler & Juice. But Kent, with 3 solid senior guards isn't to be taken lightly.

I want to see Buffalo cut down the nets in Cleveland. I think they give the conference the best chance off pulling off an upset in the tournament. After Akron was more than doubled up by VCU in 2013 and WMU was blownout by Cuse last year, the conference could use a better showing.

For me Buffalo falls into the group with Akron of teams that I could never root for. I'd like to see Bowling Green win though.

With Brown, Drummond, Weatherspoon, and Booth, I still can't figure out why Toledo has struggled as much as they have this year. Was Rian Pearson that important? There's a lot of talent on that team.

Giving up 85 to EMU is quite a feat.

JC on now. Sounds like Brian Gregory in trouble at Georgia Tech. North Dakota State in title game tonight

I'm with Tyler on this one. I'd like to see whoever wins to be a representative that can give a good showing. I like BG because I have friends from there, but of the 5 top seeds, I feel like they're the one that would give the worst showing because I'm not sure about their guard play.

Conversely, I think UT, UB, Kent and Toledo could be tough to beat as long as a team didn't have an outstanding big to beat them. UB should be the best team in the MAC, and should win this year's tournament. This is the most excited to watch other MAC teams that I've ever been because of the balance of the league.

I plan to watch NDSU tonight. It's a slight indicator of what we can expect for future years. As a slight UD fan, the Flyers got an upgrade by hiring Archie following Gregory's departure. Hopefully they can keep Archie for 3-4 more years for a good run.

Horizon title game should be good. Valpo and Green Bay split two tight games this season.

Some of the best years were just like this. The MAC could be the 7th or 8th or 9th rated conference and not get an at-large. I can recall one year in the late '90s a trivia question of the radio asking what conference had the most teams in the top 100 of the RPI and Sagarin ratings. The answer was the MAC with 9. But it was still only the seventh or eighth rated league because no team was rated higher than about 50. I think the league didn't have an at large bid that year even though the 5th or 6th seed won the tournament. If you are the #1 conference parity is good and you will get most of the league in at-large. If you are #10 or #11 like the MAC an at large bid is still realistic and common if a couple of teams dominate. The MAC has always has been one of the highest parity leagues so at-large bids have not been as common as other leagues with similar RPI.

The MAC is rated 10th in most computer rankings. All of the rest of the top 12 has a shot to get at least two bids. There is zero chance that the MAC will. Parity just kills mid-major at large chances. Hopefully, the league can be a little better next year as most teams will be about as good and Ohio stands to be a lot better.

It seems the MAC is trying to promote Buffalo for an at-large bid and some of the numbers look pretty favorable for them. The Bulls are #32 in the RPI and have as many road wins as anyone in the country. The problem is they are 0-2 against top 50 teams.

It's funny that their loss to us (200+ rpi) is probably what is keeping them out of serious bubble discussion.

Either that loss, or two home losses to UT and CMU in a row not too long ago.

If anyone else recalls the incident, Robert Morris and "The Boogie Man" Andy Toole are going Dancin'. St Francis lost that game at the foul line.

Buffalo has no big wins which the committee seems to overweight. They have a more typical computer ranking around 60 in most systems. Their biggest problem is they have nothing to offset the terrible loss to a team near and dear to our hearts. This is simply not happening.

If you're not tuned into this Summit League Final right now, you should. It's heating up!

In fairness, there was only one way to go after that first half.

That is true, first half was rough. I need two screens in my office, because I want to see Gonzaga as well.

Some less than ideal FT shooting at the end, but Saul's former guys are heading back to the dance.

As I posted in another thread, NDSU played two tough games back to back. Last night they were in a cat fight with Oral Roberts University and won that game in the final seconds.

Got to see the Zags for the first time this year in their win over BYU. Frankly I don't see them winning more than 2 or maybe 3 games in the Dance. And BYU? IF they get in they're one and done IMHO.

As I watched this game, anyone wonder if Simmons/Dartis can be what Lawrence Alexander is for NDSU?

Who else thinks Murray St is going to get shafted come Sunday? They went undefeated in the OVC, had a 25 game winning streak, ranked in the top 25...lose on a fall away 3 to Belmont in the tourney title game and I bet they are NIT bound because of it. I'm sure the mediocre teams in Power 5 conferences will get rewarded for being 9-7 in their league while a mid major power that went 16-0 in their league will get told "better luck next year."

If you can't tell, that's a sore spot for me.
