Horrible news. I will offer up a prayer for Big John and his family at this difficult time.

I have been in contact with Brian Nash, ass't coach at Duquesne with John. I asked him to tell the kids to win one for Big John.
The Duquesne Dukes get the Dayton Flyers on Sat afternoon.
Brian said
"We will definitely pull this one out for John"
I then told him that he will have BOBCATS pulling for the Dukes on Sat

So if I understand this correctly, he was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemo and then was also hit by a car?

That is terrible news.

He is one of the nicest people I ever met in my time at OU. I know many of you feel the same. John and family, we are rooting for you!

JR is scheduled for surgery on Monday. Jackie indicated that they hope to be able to go home on Wednesday if there are no future problems.

Evidently JR slipped in the freezing slush in front of an oncoming auto while walking to the drugstore.

Ted--------------- Can we move info on Big John to the top-- this is more important then bad basketball talk..

Brian Nash, ass't at Duquesne told me "they beat Dayton for the BIG MAN.

I told John that BOBCAT LOVE got double digits in scoring and rebounds. Got to

get this done.

Keep up the good work and the prayers--there is still work to be done

Thanks for pinning, Ted, and for linking the article DK. I am so pulling for this man and his family. It's wonderful that so many people know what a special individual Big John is, he has that magic.

Drove six straight Fridays from Athens, Ohio to Milwaukee to recruit @BigJohnRhodes in 1982. One of best ambassadors Ohio U has ever had!

Man, luck doesn't get much worse than that. I sure hope Coach Rhodes comes out of this well.

If you zoom in to the upper right..."OU and James Hall are behind you" I can't make out the signature. Kudos to that Bobcat(and the Dukes!)

Talked with Big John today00 does not sound 100% but he is a fighter.

Well liked-- the entire BB team at Duquesne U went to the Pgh hospital to visit him. This one will tell a lot

Keep the thoughts and prayers going for the Big Man
