Oh no...way to young...very sad! His buzzer beater ranks Top 5 on my list of all time best Bobcat moments. Rest in Peace Robert.

Enjoyed watching the tandem of Tatum and Baron play, some great Bobcat history there. I spoke with Paul Baron at the Miami game in Oxford and he told me that Robert was in very poor health. The two of them remained in touch through the years and Paul was quite concerned about Robert's condition. R.I.P., Robert Tatum.

I'm very sorry to hear about Robert Tatum's passing. That 1982-83 season was a lot of fun. His buzzer beater against Illinois State was unforgettable. RIP Robert.

Got a text from Paul Baron today with the news. Sad. They were still very tight along with Big John.

I'm heat broken for his loved ones and family.

I'm embarrassed to admit I've never seen his ncaa game winner before tonight. I hope all diehard Bobcats see the YouTube video above and think warmly of Mr Tatum.

And next Tuesday will mark 32 years since that Illinois State game. You will be missed, Robert.

Robert Tatum was a giant to me. I was sad to hear about the health issues that had beset him through the years. May he rest in peace.

I am out of the country on vacation but am heartbroken to hear about Robert. I had several classes with Robert and in 1986 when I volunteered in the sports information office I interviewed Robert for a story I wrote about him in the program for the Northern Illinois Game.

So many great memories on the court including not only the NCAA Buzzer Beater, but also the come from behind upset of DePaul. Most of all I will remember how kind Robert was off the court. My prayers go out to his family and all of his friends.

I was a crazy passionate 15 year old Bobcat fan and at the Illinois State game with my Pops and it remains one of the highlights of my sporting life. Robert and my old man remained close for decades. Dad told me tonight that Robert even recognized his voice in a Convo bathroom not too long ago when he was in serious decline. He was a great Bobcat who loved the University. I've always connected his amazing shot with my amazing father, who was and is as passionate about the Bobcats as he is Shakespeare and Ohio Univesity and who has joined me in seeing incredible games across the country. Thank you Robert and thank you Dad.

Sad news. He provided one of those "where were you when" moments for everybody that was a Bobcat. I was watching it in the TV lounge of the College Inn with my girlfriend. Nearly broke my hand on the ceiling when it went through the net. Thanks for the memories Robert.

So sad to hear of this news. Thoughts and prayers to his family. The memories he provided were indeed special; I always that he was an underrated superstar and was a heck of a player. Reading the above comments, apparently he too had a great passion for Ohio University. God bless him and rest in peace Mr. Tatum.

What a nice story. Thanks for sharing. I think from the Shakespeare reference my English professor wife has figured out who you are.
