I was just wondering what was in the works for the Convo over the summer? Are the seats being replaced this year? I hope so.

I thought they were, but I haven't heard anything. I like my cushy seat so I don't really care a whole lot either way. If I remember correctly, Gallia, you sit directly behind me so maybe your seat is much less comfortable in row 2?!

The real question is what's the hand dryer situation look like? As you may recall, I called for a formation of a non-profit organization called "Dry Paws" in which we collect funds for a restricted donation to Ohio Athletics for the installation of new state-of-the-art hand dryers. I think 10k would do it, and our general goal will be roughly 100 donors of roughly $100 each.

From what we heard at the Cleveland caravan, yes, the seats are being replaced this summer.

Meanwhile, Xavier announced this week a $25 million plan to renovate and upgrade their 15-year old Cintas Center.

Seats are being replaced now. We will still have cushions lower bowl.

Cintas is best facility in the state, it's hard to believe it's fifteen years old already.

as a former resident of the Convo I need to get a couple old chairs to go with my 4'X6' floor piece.

Yeah, how can we get our hands on one of the old seats?

I'm guessing that the seat replacements will dramatically change the appearance of the Convo. Any thoughts?

Did they ever release a picture of the final design choice?

I'm hoping to get a couple as well. Hopefully there is availability once it's done.

I assumed the seat frames were staying put and it was just the seat back and bottom being replaced.

I don't think so. I believe they're replacing the entire seat structure. They chose the dark green frame with dark green seat and (for lower bowl) cushion.

I don't think the old seats will be available, unfortunately. We were told at the caravan that the seats come out in entire rows, not individual seats. Now, if someone wants an entire row, they might want to get on the horn with the athletic department ASAP.

Hmmm, I think I'd take a row...But don't have the initiative to contact them so if someone else does, let me know how it goes.

I think the dark green is going to look pretty cool.

The old seats also do not anchor down to the floor but at a 90' to the concrete behind them.

If the seats were made available, I'm pretty comfortable that I could find a way to mount these so they'd sit on a floor.

Seat project hasn't started yet, but will be done in phases beginning in July.

I do sit behind you! The great news is my daughter graduated HS and is going to be a freshman at OU this year. Now that high school volleyball and basketball are over I can utilize my seats on most nights!!!

As you might expect, it looks a lot like the photos I've seen of when the Convo was built.

Jeff, from what you've seen, does it look like an improvement over the old seating?
