If I were in Vegas and was down to my last dollar, I would not bet this game. If I was forced to bet it, realizing it was my last dollar and I had to do my best to win, I'd be forced to take Tulsa -12. Not what I want to happen, but seems like the logical bet in my mind. I'm always wrong, hence I like our chances of keeping this somewhat close. Inverse, reverse, logic.

10 point underdogs is pretty complimentary from Vegas considering the season we are coming off of.

Very excited to see how the guys play today.

I'd bet against us. Tons of new faces playing the first game away from home against a tough opponent.

Thanks to smart TVs with a YOuTube app, I'm watching on my TV. Unfortunately teh resolution isn't quite what the TV allows, but good anyway.

Well that was a fun first half. Now what we see what this team looks like with Kaminski hitting shots. Fouls obviously worrisome at this point but only Mike Laster with 3. Need to come out with just as much intensity in the 2nd half because you know Tulsa is going to make a run.

20 minutes left. Big believer in breaking it into 5 4-minutes components. Win 2 or 3 and the Cats should be good to go.

Wow, about to blow a 15 point halftime lead.

Looks like we didn't make the proper adjustments ourselves, in the 2nd half. Not good.

What a collapse.

Tulsa has nine seniors. Looks to me like nine seniors found a way to come back and our young team couldn't hold on. I think it was a great effort. NO mac team is even close to Tulsa's depth and athleticism. We will be fine.

losing an early ten point lead is one thing, but we were up 70-51 with like 11 minutes left. that's brutal

I take full blame. I tuned in late to the video cast. We were up about 13 at that point. We immediately went into a funk and didn't score a FG for several minutes while Tulsa score seemingly at will. Obviously things had gone better when I wasn't watching. Perhaps, Saul should pay me not to watch! ;-)

Bench outscored 37-21. 23 turnovers for us, to only 10 for Tulsa. Take care of the ball and we win the game.

A combined 86 free throw attempts. That's hideous.

I caught the last 5 minutes and my observation was that we panicked when Tulsa turned up the D. 10 turnovers over the the last 11 minutes, when we were up by 19, 23 for the entire game won't equate to many W's.

But, once again, Tulsa is as athletic of a team as we will face. Their pressure and athleticism getting to the rim was fantastic. Akron won't have that. Central doesn't even have that. Buffs, Western..they won't have that. And while Jaaron was a turnover machine, he also did some great things that not many PGs we face will be able to stop.

Odd is the turnovers happened AFTER we broke the press - in the half court game. We brought it over, settled for a moment and then started fumbling it away. They were not even a continuation of breaking the pressure.

Man that sucked.

Hopefully someone emerges and becomes the guy who can win/finish those types of games for us. When things are falling apart, call for the ball, beat their man an score or get fouled and hit the free throws.

Onward!

First of all, never would've imagined that from OHIO. Valiant effort.

By my goodness, what a meltdown and what a gut punch.

Praises aside, which there are many, concerns:

1. If this doesn't tell us our one remaining scholly needs to be another ball handler/PT, nothing does. Simmons is a one man ball-handling show. Needed another, didn't have it. 23 turnovers and it was up to Simmons to play 1 on 5 vs. pressure. Simmons gets hurt, or gets into foul trouble--ball game for us. Too much was asked of him and at this point we can't survive a minute of him not being on the court.
2. Ability to stop penetration was apparent the first 2 games at home and huge today. Matador defense all 1H and while we were living with long range shooting, they were going to rack every possession. They added some outside shooting in the 2H and lights out. Khari, when you're opponent head fakes you 10 straight times and drives by you each time, quit jumping and stay on the ground. Our defensive strategy was simply fouling literally every trip down the court because we couldn't stop the dribble.
3. Kenny, where were you in 2H? You disappeared when the pressure cooker hit and dished it off to Simmons too afraid to do something yourself. You did not look like a Big 10 player transitioning to the MAC, in appeared opposite and you disappeared late. Falling, frustration fouls, not wanting the ball and clearly flustered. After an amazing 1H, they played you tighter and it was game over for you. Please have more to your game other than a spot up shooter. In fact, down the stretch it was obvious nobody but Simmons wanted any part of touching the ball. Wadley 3 ball late, really?

Man that hurt and while I love the moral victory, we let a big moment slip away Hopefully a learning moment and they'll be better for it later this season. BIG BUMMER!
