If this squad continues to improve this is going to be one heck of a season.

A point guard who passes and gets to the foul line. Nice.

For those that attended both games: What was the biggest difference betwen the exhibition game and yesterday?

See that we did better on the offensive boards. Still not hitting 3s. Were Kaminski's challenged or is he just not making shots?

Kaminski hit shots, just not his 3s. On the offensive end he looks to be a difference maker. He gets his shot off quickly and can catch it moving and get balanced.

The difference between this year's team and last year's team is night and day. Guys look like they know if they find and open spot the ball will find them. There were almost no instances of guys being open but someone forcing up a guarded shot. We had 5 or 6 passes that were almost like handoffs at the bucket from one big to another for an easy lay-in. There is a thread out there titled "Drive and Dish" and we saw lots and lots of it and 99% of under control.

Yesterday also allayed some of my worry about Saul's recruits (lower rankings and not many big names schools offering). None of the four freshman that played put up big numbers but just watching them away from the ball convinced me they are going to be really good players down the line. This is a cornerstone class IMO.

Rebounding was a critical win for Ohio. Cat's played hard with lots of guys fighting for minutes ! KK is our best shooter by far, but he will struggle some with his percentage as he gets accustomed to actually playing in "real" games. We will probably not be a great shooting team, especially from beyond the arc, so shot selection is going to be critical for this team. Certainly a strong opener for the Cats against a team that could play in the MAC.

Apparently Saul can recruit.

And it's great to read that nearly everyone noting and appreciating the solid team play.

Contrary to likely perception, I'm much more about playing well than winning. If we play well, I can generally live with the results.

Monroe, unfortunately, with a young, inexperienced team, there are going to be bumps in the road where we are not going to play well so we must live with those nights also. That is what the journey to the top is all about, whether it is basketball or football. It is a marathon more often than a sprint. Strive to get better every day, even if it is just itty bitty steps that you might not even notice ! This team is going to be fun to watch. Stay the course. Go Bobcats.

I agree entirely. And a number of our coaches have, or appear ready to, take us on an upward trending path, though there may be bumps along the way. A path that will be high, generally KEEP us at the top of MAC once we reach there, and won't include several years of horrendous beatdowns to MAC teams. Boldon, Webb, Saul, hopefully others.

Aside from an ill-advised looong 3ball or two, those highlights are some nice attacking the rim, rebounding, team play highlights.

Attendance: 5,851

Where was everyone? I drove in from DC to be there for this game.
I thought since it was - on a Saturday, at a decent hour for out-of-town alumni to attend, and vs. a respectable opponent that we would at least have more than the exhibition game last week, maybe even 10,000.

The O Zone was half empty, as well as half the lower bowl.

When you only win 10 games the previous year fans are not going to show up until you do better. I was there, but nobody else in my section showed up. I am wondering how many season tickets did not get renewed after last years performance.
