So did they get rid of the basketball forum entirely or am I suffering from user error?

Marshall is trying to run up-tempo but doesn't really have the horses to do it. They are 7th in the nation in tempo yet are averaging nearly 20 points a game fewer than we are. We are 83rd in tempo but our shooting is significantly better than theirs. They turn the ball over, shoot poorly and give up offensive rebounds like crazy. Much like us they have been sending the other team to the line a ton. Unlike us, however, they don't get to the line.

These numbers are obviously based on a very small sample size but Marshall is not a very good basketball team. That being said if we mail it in on defense we could have problems with the pace.

They were up by 16 in second half at Tennessee but ended up losing by 10. They lost an exhibition game to Div. II Newberry by double digits. Was blown out by Morehead on the road last night. Still, they are dangerous and if an opponent isn't ready they are capable of beating people.

Marshall's head coach is 68 years old, prior to joining the Herd last year he'd never been a head coach above the high school level and the totality of his prior college coaching experience was as an asst during the '70-'71 season.

4 of the 6 players from his first two recruiting classes are from Eastern Europe. Of the 2 American recruits one had offers from a service academy and two low majors and the other player had zero other offers. This team is a hot mess.

CUSA is a total case of the haves and the have-nots. They have 4 good teams at the top but then have 4 really, really bad teams at the bottom. Marshall is bad but probably not as bad as USM or North Texas. UTSA is right there with Marshall. They have 8 teams with a 200+ ranking per Ken Pomeroy. They did get a signature win last night when Louisiana Tech went into Columbus and beat tOSU. Other than that the best wins in the conference are CMU, Buffalo, Miami and Stony Brook.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they hired him as a placeholder for his brother but that hasn't happened. I can't recall a hire that I consider worse on the surface.

Losing to Morehead is not a horrible loss, I think they are pretty good. That said, I agree with Perimeter and OUVan...they were really reaching by selecting the "home-town boy" to turn their b-ball fortunes.

also worth mentioning, Marshall only has 11 players on scholarship. In addition to the 6 mentioned above 3 of the remaining 5 players are JUCOs. Their highest rated player is (RS)Jr Ryan Taylor that was a solid 3 star recruit that signed with the previous coach.

A lot of changes in Rivals since Yahoo took over. Looks like the basketball is in the premium forum but there is not much of it smattered about in the FB talk. I liked their bball forum when we played them down there. Looks to be gone. Not user error as my bookmarked site is not linking

Losing to Morehead isn't bad but losing by 25 is. In the last 55 minutes of basketball the Herd has been outscored 134-83. This is a bad basketball team that we should beat handily. That being said our defensive inconsistencies makes us vulnerable if we aren't shooting well. I think we'll drop 100 on them though.

Just checked Mattsarz and you're right, it is. Also listed on OhioBobcats.com (which I thought I checked when I posted this).

Marshall will come into the Convo 0-3 after losing at home to James Madison tonight, 89-75. In three games the Herd's defense has given up 84,85,89 pts/gm. I smell Lava Cakes.

Marshall was favored by one in that game. They're struggling.

Here's an article that says a lot about the Herd. They are trying to really amp the tempo but don't really have the horses to do it. The guys that have the skillset are freshman.

Ex-Dukie and current Herd assistant coach, Chris Duhon, was just arrested for DUI early this morning. I'm guessing he won't be making the trip.

You know, if the O Zone wants to re-establish itself as a fun, intimidating student section, this is an easy place to start. Regional rival plus good source material between the Duhon thing and their coach being the less successful D'Antoni brother, which is really kinda saying something.

...if the O Zone wants to do that sort of thing.

ESPN has spread at 10, Dispatch at 9. Sagarin 13.

Chuck says this is an unacceptable state of affairs.
