Another cup cake opponent to pad the coaches record. IF we loose it would be a real embarrassment, because a win is expected when scheduling weak teams.

Ken Pomeroy has these guys ranked at #195. He favors Ohio by 6 (73% chance to win). The Bobcats have a 74% chance to beat #203 BG and #204 Miami at home. So this is one of the easier home games the rest of the way.

Getting tired of hearing about scheduling cupcakes. What do you expect when a coach is developing a young team? I would much prefer to see development going into league competition. Winning record going into MAC race, competing at the highest level during the season and the winning the MAC Tournament would certainly help in the final ranking in tournament. I really dislike discussing a coach's record when trying to develop a team. Team building is so important. That did not occur last year with only 8 wins.

We are seeing good development of our team, developing frosh are playing instrumental roles and we will see what happens at NIU. At the end of March one then can discuss early competition, if it or did not help in team development and recruiting!!

Well 71, the facts don't back up your statement that Riverside is a "cupcake." Ted has already given you kenpom's info. Sagarin is about the same...#214, about the same as Miami and Ball State.

This is a better team than the last two opponents. Probably best team we have played since the Virgin Islands. We should win, but a lackluster performance will lead to a loss in this one.

I assume you mean at home.

I think they are better than their performance so far indicates. Their leading scorer from last year, Taylor Johns, was suspended 5 games and they've had 5 different starting lineups. Even with that they are still 8-5 and their results don't look remarkably different than ours with the exception of a really bad loss to Houston Baptist. I think we should beat them at home but I'm not expecting a cakewalk.

Right, they aren't as good as Bona.

Ruck, I like their win over William Jessup.

The last two teams Ohio played weren't especially skilled basketball teams. They just relied on athleticism, and we still struggled with that. UC Riverside is much better, so it could be a battle. They are a better shooting team and they have a forward who has been a force inside. Unlike Ohio's previous opponent, UC Riverside has not at all played a challenging schedule. The only team in the top half of D-I they played probably is UNLV, which won by 11. Again, a team Ohio should beat, but if the Bobcats play like the last two games, they probably won't win.

I have absolutely no problem with Ohio's soft schedule this year. With a young team I always felt it was important to be very strategic when putting together a schedule that will allow the team to taste some success. Besides the MAC schedule will be a grind and it's not like Ohio won't get an at large bid due to its soft non conference schedule.

This will be my first in person game of the year! GO OHIO!!!

They really need to run some specials for this one or attendance will be dismally low. As for the game, we should win by double digits if we come out focused.

Finish non-conference strong. These guys beat Morgan State on Monday night I believe.

Any Harley injury updates?

I don't think Ohio's out of conference schedule is all that bad considering they are a young team. Plus, if these teams that Ohio is playing are so terrible, just remember we only beat Jackson St by 5 and UAPB by 7. There's more parody in college basketball than ever before. Tulsa, FGCU, FSU, St Bonaventure were all good tests for Ohio. Tennessee St keeps on winning games and is currently on top of Tennessee so that win keeps looking more impressive.

Ohio's overall strength of schedule according to ESPN is 249 but in the MAC we rank 6th. Things could be worse. Northern Illinois has played Eureka, Indiana-Northwest, Roosevelt & Judson.

I go back and forth on which is the more quality win for them, William Jessup or Life Pacific. Care to weigh in on that?

Definitely more parody. Badumdumpdumpchshshshshs.

Your point is well taken about strength of schedule. Playing SWAC teams pulls our SOS down even if those SWAC teams give us a hard time.

We will see if we can avoid the upset tomorrow night and move on to the MAC schedule 8-3 against Div I opponents. So far we have avoided losing a game we were expected to win. Hope the break has recharged our guys' batteries and they are focused and ready to go vs UCR.

The test of whether the staff scheduled wisely will b
e how well we perform in our MAC schedule.

Riverside has some guys who can shoot the three. They are a good defensive team if you go by defensive fg%.

BANG !! .. oh baby what a big time post !!

that will then add to OHIO "CUPCAKE WINS" and a win against northern in dekalb would give OHIO 10 wins for the students upon their return ..

BANG !! .. oh baby what a big time exciting way to enter conference play !!
