Seeing their schedule, it looks like these guys help a lot of teams work out the kinks before conference play.
Like practice game but you get a "W" too.

Sagarin rates them #332 of 351 teams. But they were with 7 of Oklahoma State with 5 minutes to go and within 8 of Michigan State with 4 minutes to go. Those were 2 of the first 3 games of the year. Since then, they've suffered a lot of blowouts: lost by 39 to Cincinnati, by 23 to Nebraska, by 21 to Army, by 28 to Hawaii, by 35 to Virginia Tech and most recently by 40 to Texas Tech. They did recently give Iowa State a decent game.

You can't take anyone lightly, and PB has had a few games where they played decently, but overall this team is nowhere near as good as Jackson State. Their stats are awful. I'm hoping we want to come out Monday and be more effective than we were against Jackson State. Should be a 15-20 point win but you have to take all opponents seriously.

Looks like PB has not played a home game yet. Cannon fodder to raise money for the athletic budget. You have to wonder how the SWAC remains in Div. I.

That RPI is misleading. They have a decent RPI due to playing good teams on the road. If you look at Sagarin and kenpom they are much lower.

the RPI is not misleading, it is a math formula. It is what it is, nothing more.

I understand your point but I still maintain that in a sense, it's misleading. People will draw the conclusion that PB is the #165th best team in the country. They aren't.

I think this game will go similar to the last. We won't take them seriously and they will hang around till the end when we pull ahead and win by maybe double digits if we are fortunate, otherwise a 5-7 pt win. The all on this board will say a W is a W.
Unfortunately, playing these weak teams will only serve 2 purposes; 1) Give a false sense of confidence & 2) Pad the coaches W-L record. The competition in the MAC is at a higher level than our the current OOC schedule.

These guys play an unbelievable schedule. They played more power teams this year than we play in 4-5 years. You have to believe that we could get a better schedule if we really wanted too, but maybe teams just want cattle fodder to play and won't play us.

3) give a very young team games to develop in without going through a meat grinder of a schedule.

Don't give the MAC too much credit right now - I'm not sure it's quite that good, but we'll see. Plus, I'm not sure how much better of a schedule anyone is playing for the most part.

I think the guys will come out and play a better game than they did last Thursday. That game following finals is almost always a bad game across many campuses.

Here's a comparison of Ohio's noncon schedule with ARPB's-

Home games-
7- Ohio
0- ARPB

Neutral site games-
4- Ohio
1- ARPB

Away games-
1- Ohio
13- ARPB

ARPB's 1st home game of the season is on Jan 16th,2016. By that date Ohio will have already played 9 home games. ARPB plays 9 home games total for the season. Do you really want their schedule?

Of course not, nor did I say anything like that. What I said was " we get a better schedule". Do you not see the difference?

I don't think this one will be as close as Jackson State.

Agreed and I would hope the players are a little more rested after having played 3 games in 6 days last week.

you're pointing to Pine Bluff's schedule and saying "look at all those power teams, why can't we schedule some?" and I'm saying "we can, but they won't be played in Athens.".

Second game in a row the bench has offered little, and been given very few minutes to show much. It's a little worrisome to see light minutes for guys like Block, Wadly, Gollon, Laster who seem capable of much larger contributions.

If AKPB did not hit 11 3 pointers this probably would have been a blow out!

I didn't see the game so this is speculation based on prior games, but maybe they wouldn't have hit 11 threes if we defended better. Even moderate ball movement seems to lead to wide open shots for the opposition this year, and good teams will make us pay.

And if we don't hit 88.5% from the line, this very well would have been our first home loss of the year. By the way, Tony Campbell looked to be in mid-season form tonight.

Saul admitted as much in the post game show. Hopefully we see improvement in that area.

I get the impression defense won't be Ohio's calling card for the 2015-2016 season.
