he's had one spectacular game and otherwise his shooting has been sub par. Do you think that his shoulder injury is affecting his stroke, or is it mechanics, or psychological, or a combination of all three. I expected that he'd be almost automatic with an open three-point shot, but he's been anything but. I'm curious how others assess him to this point in his Bobcat career.

Man, I've been thinking the exact same thing but have never checked the stats to see if my eye test was supported by facts. I did hear on tonights post game show that he had 15 points (I watched, but it was a quiet 15), but up to this point based on the hype he had coming into the program, he's been a major disappointment. Not only do I not see a B10 3 point shooting leader, but I don't see the by-products of him reportedly working on diversifying his game while sitting out last year or the mere fact that a guy his size in the MAC should be more than a spot of shooter.

If this team is going anywhere this year, he has to be more than he's been outside of the one huge game in the Paradise Jam.

He was at 36 percent coming into the game, which is pretty good, but obviously, when he shot 49 percent two years ago, it's a bit disappointing. But I'm sure he's probably not getting quite as good of looks considering he was pretty far down on the list of guys to guard at Michigan State.

Quickly judging performance are we?

FWIW, I think he's got an excellent shooter's stroke and release and I don't see the shoulder affecting his mechanics. But I think he's pressing and forcing his shot too much. I don't put much stock in the "B10 leading 3 point shooter" stuff, while he was in Izzo's rotation he only averaged about 12 minutes a game. He's already taken more threes as a Bobcat than in a full season as a Spartan. I think he can shoot and that we will see him have some excellent games, but I'd like to see him use his all-around game more and not force the three ball.

So what's your assessment, oh wise one?

I didn't say he should be thrown off the team. I didn't say I didn't think he had great potential. I simply said that I'm a little mystified as to why at this point he hasn't been playing up to his perceived potential. I suspect by mid-season he'll be playing a much better game, but still I wonder why he's off to such a slow start compared to what I envisioned. I asked for folks to give me their assessments. In typical fashion, you didn't respond to a question, but simply made an inappropriate comment trying to make a totally ridiculous connection to your pet football mantra.

I think his confidence is easily shaken. When he makes a few threes in a row he's ok. When he misses a few, I have noticed he likes to fake the three to get his man off him, take a couple of dribbles and shoots the two. His scoring average is a product of taking more shots vs shooting well. He is lights out on free throws though! To this point he's not what I had hoped we would see, but his upside is worth waiting for.

KK has already played more minutes this year than he did in 2 years at Michigan State. He started the season with less career minutes than Mike Laster. Add to that a troublesome shoulder and having to sit out since March 2014 and there's no way he's not going to have some inconsistencies.

Give it time.

My assessment is as follows. He was built up as the savior of our program on this message board. It happens every year. It was said he would be unstoppable because of his size and his ability to shoot the three. At this level, teams are capable of stopping you, I wish for once we would not try to predict how successful these guys will be or the team for that matter. I do believe in jinx's! Heck, on the football board, after all the negative discussions of the past season, we have already beaten Kansas, a big 12 team. How can anyone start that sh!! already.

And let's not forget that at Michigan State he was surrounded by McDonald's All-Americans and actual college All-Americans who took the heat off of him. He could spot up all day. I think he's done a great job considering the baggage he had at MSU and how he has had to re-create himself as a go-to guy. I would be perfectly delighted if he finishes the year with 14 ppg, 5 rpg and 2 apg shooting 35 percent from 3. I would be overjoyed if he shot better then that but not expecting it.

1/3 the way through the season, so fair to evaluate. I mean it is not like he has only run a few plays - there is a body of work to evaluate.

I don't worry about good shooters. They eventually find it.

The team's defense as a whole is not good.

Do you think I am being overly simplistic when I say: If a team is playing poorly on defense, why isn't the coach insisting they buckle down, get tough and play D the way it needs to play to win consistently? Don't buckle down and you don't play.

Something about your inability to understand plain English. Please re-read my response to your original asinine post in this thread. Your agenda driven comparison is downright laughable. You want to fire the football coach. I ask for an evaluation of a basketball player who seems to be under-performing at the beginning of the conference season. No one else in his or her right mind would see that as a legitimate comparison. If I had said KK should be kicked off the team, you might have a slim thread of an analogy. As it is, you are just looking for a way to poke at me and not caring a whit if it makes a darn bit of sense. Look at the trash talk you tried in Siberia. You are a cyberbully. That's darn pathetic.

Nice emotional, angry response ("asinine"), OCF. My friend, I'm insistent with my rhetoric. I won't let faulty logic or reasonable questions which I ask go unaddressed. To that, you seem to have a habit of responding with vitriol when I don't agree with your points of view.

Tilly, we all get it. There are certain posters who you don't like. Why don't you just use a shorthand such as IHU (for i hate you)--it will save you and us a lot of time. Your posts deriding others because you, in your exulted view, don't agree add nothing...add nothing but unwarranted insult.

P.S. Repetition does not equal logic. Ignoring others arguments does not equal debate.

Making statements like the following show you have an inability to correctly assess your own mentality acuity:

"I guarantee you that I lead this website on the number of reasonable, specific, factual questions asked but ignored by people who don't want to admit that my facts and my theories which flow from those facts are correct (for the facts) and make sense (for the theories)."

ROTFL!

Who injected a totally inappropriate comment in this thread with the intent to get at a poster you've decided to harrass because he won't concede that Frank should be fired? Last I looked this was the basketball forum.

Tilly, just where do you get that I'm pissing and moaning about the Bobcats? Did you even read my post or just see the 71 number? Read it and you'll see I'm pissing and moaning about all the posters and their ridiculous predictions about various aspects of football and basketball, both about individual players and team aspects.
