Highlights:

reggie saying shit on live mic, made my non sports fan wife giggle. Priceless.

Tony. Went beast mode, Trent style.

Wadly dunk had me off my chair. Strong force on the boards, 6 in 10 mins.

Dartis played 37 minutes? Nice to see the young fella dish 6 assists.

Not so highlights

KK shot selection. Hopefully an aberration?

Was Harley a healthy DNPCD? I was hoping to see if he improved from last season.

The crowd looked smaller than I anticipated. Anyone have attendance figure?

I call KK a "oh no..oh yeah" player. When he shoots you yell OH NO..then he makes it and goes OH YEAH.

Wadly has been such a huge element and Lasters rise is amazing. Block didnt score a bunch but does the little things well. Khari and Gollon will be good if needed but I kind of like the interchangeable 8 man rotation.

Tony is the league MVP if out of foul trouble and Jaaron is handling the offense better every game

Without Setty we don't win this game. He was Mr. Hustle from start to finish on both ends of the court. There was a period in the second half when he was everywhere.

Kent State impressed me with their focus, effort and maturity. The Flashes missed their best two backcourt players -- Pollard and Walker -- for all but six minutes of this game and gave themselves a chance. Credit to our guys for making plays. If Pollard and Walker are healthy I think they will be a very tough out in the MAC tourney.

Setty still my x-factor. I think his improved and steady play gives others the opportunity to play their game and not have to try to too much. His excitability is much more under control but still very evident. Sometimes his feet haven't got the "stay calm" message but to me he is very much on the plus side of personal stats.

I think this year's emphasis on the straight up defense near the basket has benefitted Tony C. He does that well and when they let the game be played that way he has the advantage.

Like others, KK can elicit "0h No!--Oh Yeah!" cheer in me.

I don't remember the story behind the transfer from Houston but Ohio is the clear winner in that decision. Simmons is fun to watch.

Block is already a guy that gives teams fits. I get the feeling he be will that player that other teams will dread as each year progresses.

Dartis is sneaky good. He just seems to explode at times when you least expect it.

Wadly M. looks more confident each game. His new body and his game are coming together nicely.

Laster is also sneaky good. He has a sense of finding the ball and the hands to make it happen. Rebounds from nowhere and defense that'll just make you crazy.

The defense last night was really good. Hard to tell early on if the defense caused the poor shooting of KSU or if the defense gained confidence because of early turnovers/missed shots. Regardless, the defense played well throughout the game.

Excited to get a win against Akron. That would be a momentum builder.

Every time I see Antonio Campbell play I get more impressed with his footwork in the post. He also had a nice stroke on the three he took late in the shot clock. He should wander out there a bit more.

Wander out there a bit more? Where he shot that ball from was a hike.

I was both disappointed and happy with the crowd. Smaller than I thought it would be but were very much into the game. OZone has really slipped but they had an OK effort last night. Lower ring behind basket decided to watch from home I guess because it was sparse. I had relatives come down and buy tickets at the door and they were in the very upper section opposite the student section so I am guessing ticket sales/attendance number will be decent assuming all seats below their's were sold.

Next weekend is sibs weekend so there will be a very large student turnout. If Ohio can some how beat Akron Tuesday I am assuming the season ticket holders will show. After all it's in the "coveted" 2 pm time slot. Personnally I would like 7:00 Saturday night games.

If we beat Akron, you will see more than 10K actual people at the NIU game.

Count me in on your sentiments about varied time slots, even when TV isn't determining them. IMO, the boat is missed by not having a few more at 4pm/7pm on Saturdays. Better for local business, better potential out of town crowd, better potential student turnout.

I know everyone is working hard inside the Convo, but a little outside the box thinking, or simply copying what other schools are doing successfully is worth a try, right?

For league games, perhaps it's the MAC that chooses the start time. Can someone inside the Convo confirm or refute this please?

At least yesterday, there was no problem with Kaminsky's shot selection.

If he's our big outside gun, he's got to some shots. Yesterday, he certainly wasn't chucking wildly.

Apparently, kents is not a good shooting team. That had to be accented by the absence of their top two guards.

Those in the Convo or MAC offices don't check with my son's 3-grade basketball league schedule, but it would be nice for him and me if 1 or 2, at the least, home Saturday games were scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Instead, we can't make it to any Jan./Feb. Saturday games because he plays early afternoon every Saturday 90 minutes from Athens.

HEY YOU WHIPPERSNAPPE4RS!! As a senior citizen, 2 PM Saturday gameS are best for me to drive 2 1/2 hours. I'm still pixxed that the Kent St game was changed to 9 PM Friday.

I think the game changed on his block of Spicer after Spicer missed the dunk. If he gets that put-back the score is tied at 36. Instead Dartis gets the block and Tony gets a traditional 3pt play at the other end and all of a sudden instead of 36-36 it's 39-34. That was huge.

I loved Tony before it was cool to love Tony. Consistent foul trouble to this point in his career is the only thing holding him back from being among the greats at Ohio. He was incredible last night.

Still really like Simmons, pleased to have him 2 more years. Turnovers were not an issue at all last night, the ball handling skills are on point. KK still hasn't been the savior we hoped, but he isn't hurting us and could explode at any moment. Dartis & Block played well, I'm getting more and more comfortable with them. The nucleus is there for a really good team, just gotta put it all together.

Crowd # was a little disappointing but not surprising to me. Atmosphere was pretty good.

We caught some breaks with Kent, but overall we did a good job. Really really excited for the next one.

Amen!

2 pm games are best for me. I live 2:45 north of Peden, and the idea of driving home in the wee hours of wintry nights isn't terribly appealing.

Alright, Mike and SeniorFan. Maybe I should start a thread complaining about my son's biddy basketball league playing all of its games in the early afternoon.

I think it's only going to get cooler to like Big Tone. Too powerful to be stopped. A FORCE.

Certainly, your 3rd grader's hoops schedule is paramount to all of us.

Maybe we should all just accept adjusting schedules for TV is the reality of today's college environment. Also no matter what time is selected some will be happy and others won't. If you don't like it, do t show up. If you like it then show up.

The Big is playing a ton of Sunday games today. Every conference in the country pretty much adjust the schedules based on TV.

With no NFL games, the sports networks need programming. The only conference that has stood by it's founding principles is the IVY League - Friday and Saturday nights.

Am I the only one who thought Jimmy Hall could have been called for traveling on almost every drive to the tin? He shuffles those feet a lot. I know he was called for several, but there could have been many more. It almost felt like the WVU style of defense, that they can't call the foul on every play, so hack away and get away with what you can.
