WSAZ is lazy and unless it's the beloved Terd they won't go more than a mile from the studio's to cover anything.
This is a sad commentary on the times, because it used to be that WSAZ was the best place to get TV coverage of anything happening in Southeastern Ohio. They were, I believe, the only station that did a live broadcast of Lyndon Johnson's address in Athens back in the early '60s. They had stringers all over the area that would feed them with stories, and film footage. I know, because I was one of them. Used to take the film can to the bus station (yes, we had a full-service bus station) and they would deliver it to Huntington. If you timed it right, you could get it there in a few hours, otherwise, it might be the next day. Most of the stories stringers did were not "breaking news" so a small delay didn't make any difference.
