My guess at the spread will be 8-10.
If we continue to play like these past few games we should win by double digits.

Food for thought, Miami's point totals in their last 4 games have been:

55
45
49
56

Not exactly an offensive juggernaut, but they did manage to somehow win two of those games. Hold them under 60 and I think we beat them easily.

Maybe they could hire the Ex Cleveland Cavaliers coach. He needs a job.

What's interesting is that in MAC play they've put up nearly three more shots per game than their opponents (699 vs 663) but they've hit about two fewer shots per game than the opposition (263 vs 295). They also commit a lot of shooting fouls. In MAC play, Fiami has committed only nine more fouls than their opponents (240-231) but the opposition has shot 35 more FTs than Fiami (501-536). Sounds like they defend well for about 25 seconds then give up a good shot, or foul the shooter.

I wonder if he considers unemployed life harder than that of a fighter pilot's, too.

Not sure what you can deduce from their fouls. Teams that are losing at the end of games foul more and those fouls lead to shots. Of course, that may not apply here either. When Miami loses they loses in style. Their last 6 losses have been by 18, 45, 25, 17, 29, and 17. There's a lot of quit in these guys.

It's good they aren't playing football with those kinds of losses. There would be a heck of a discussion.

Those 9 seeds always have an easy road in conference tournaments.

Love this quote on the Miami board, the topic is potential head coaches to replace Cooper if he gets fired. Someone mentioned John Groce and another Miami fan replied with this nugget of gold-

Not a huge Groce fan and I don't view him as a legit candidate. His success at Ohio is a little misleading. He never won a regular season conference title. The first year they went to the NCAA tournament, they finished 8th in the conference but had a fairly easy road in Cleveland. He may or may not be back at Illinois next year.

lmao. there are some minor factual error- Ohio was a 9 seed, not 8, and playing #1, #4 and #3 in Cleveland is literally the toughest draw possible (the #2 seed was the automatic West winner), but that's besides the point. The point is a Miami fan looks at a coach who won 3 NCAA Tournament games and 2 MAC tournament championships in 4 years and says "meh... I'll pass". That is SO Miami.
Expectations for Miami are regular season titles, not NCAA tournament wins. Got it.

Someone else posted the record but I'm pretty sure Groce was on the plus side vs. MAC "power" Akron as well. They guy rebuilt Ohio in a hurry and Miami would be crazy not to grab him if her were available. Unless of course there is something in the background that is a deal breaker that we don't know about which seems unlikely. Then again the fact that he coached at OU could be that deal breaker!
past 3 Ohio coaches vs Akron

Groce- 4-4 regular season, 2-0 MAC Tournament Championship
Christian- 1-3 regular season, 0-2 MAC Tournament
Phillips- 1-2

Looking at KenPom, Miami is quite bad offensively. Their adjusted offense is 93.9 points/100 possessions (324th in the country). Ohio, by comparison, is 109.1 points per possession. Miami shoots just 29.9% (331st nationally) from three and 44.0% on twos (324th nationally). And in the spirit of Charlie Coles, they play slow. Their adjusted tempo is 65.4 possessions/game (328th in the country).

I've tried to find some press on Fiami outside their own website and there's absolutely nothing. Dayton and Hamilton papers are co-owned, and they haven't posted anything for about a week. Cincy Enquirer uses stuff from the Fiami athletics dept. Even the student newspaper ignores the men's b-ball team.

It's not a lot (and it's a lot less than when I worked there) but the Journal-News still keeps a finger on the faint pulse of that program.

Go ahead and keep talking like this. Ohio is far from perfect. All it takes is one bad day of shooting and some key fouls and this game is close or a loss.

I am looking for a ticket for tomorrow's game if anyone has one they are not using. My son's friend wants to tag along. If no one has one, I will purchase at the door, but thought I would give this a shot.

Thanks.

I have a loose single if you just need him to get in the building; is next to my mom, but am assuming you are sitting someplace else. Message me here tonight with name so I can leave it at Will Call.

Have four more together if anyone needs them.

And from the Miami board last hour......

"McKnight, Moore, Barnes, Vucica all out for Saturday. One-game suspension for violation of team policy."
