This game's not as big to me as our performance in the tournament. More amped for bringing it in the MAC tourney than making this an exhausting effort.

A win tomorrow would be excellent...but I'd rather have the win later this season.

I opted for a bleacher seat. That way I can more easily locate myself among other green-clad patrons.
The bleachers at the JAR should be sponsored by the International Chiropractic Association.
They add to the experience of the JAR (and by that I mean a slightly upgraded version of my high school's crappy gym, which is basically a dead ringer for it with exception of the north end seats)

It's also LeBron James Bobble head doll night (yes he's in a Zips uniform)....
This just cracks me up. But hey, if Lebron identifies with the Zips then so be it....
maybe we could have a Jesse Owens bobble head night with him wearing his Ohio track shirt.

+2. Probably go to B-Dubs for a pregame brew so I can just park in one place, get a beer and walk to the game.

So you're saying you don't want a MACC? I'm confused.

I'm over the moon excited. After the start to conference play to control our own fate to bring home a banner has exceeded my expectations. Cleveland shouldn't define this teams' season. Win or lose our program is on an upswing. I'm going to enjoy the ride.

Akron and LeBron have both won an equal number of NCAA Tournament games, so I guess it may make sense.

I'm in Cincy tomorrow night for work and just check the listing and its televised! WSTR-2. I'm not really sure what to expect. I'm hopeful the Bobcats play well. It's going to come down to taking care of the ball and being able to hold our own on the boards. That's not rocket science I know!

I know the key is to stopping Johnson and trying to get him to bowl over some folks with charges, but I have a different idea:

Make Johnson win the game. Make him score 50+ points and shut everyone else down. With the way Ohio has been scoring, there's no way Dambrot is going to trade twos and clock time for threes and run outs for very long.

I may be incorrect, but I think the recent losses suffered by UoA have been by defenses that try to completely take away the three and the drives--without Forsythe, letting the Big Dog do whatever he is able--but shut down everything else.

Be there +2

In the games Forsythe has been out, Akron has been going with Kretzer, Cheatham, and McAdams at the forwards and bringing Johnson off the bench. If Cheatham and/or Johnson get in foul trouble they're limited inside. Ohio did a good job stopping McAdams (2-9 from 3) and Kretzer (1-6). I'd be interested to see if they have success doing it again. Josh Williams picked up the slack going 4-5 from 3 on his way to 20 points in 19 minutes.

In +2. Hoping to grab food and a couple beers downtown pre-game, where depends on time.

As a transplant to the area I can offer some recommendations on food downtown.

Crave and Bricco downtown both have good food and sizeable bars. Both are moderately priced options.

Nuevo is a modern Mexican spot that I really like. If Margaritas are your thing they have flights of all kinds of flavors and rim options (salt, sugar, cinnamon, jalopeno, and lots of others)

Cilantro, next door to Bricco, Asian cuisine and decent Sushi.

For beer drinkers the Lockview and Baxter's which are side by side on Main St have a lot of options. I think you will see a Jackie O's offering at one or both of these. Baxters does flatbread pizza and Lockview has food too I think, but I've never had it.

The classic Italian place and Akron institution Luigi's is always a good option. Pizza, pasta and salads (warning: salad in this case means some lettuce and enough shredded cheese to have you reaching for some Miralax)

Close to the JAR you have BW3's and Eurogyro. You can go to BW3's anywhere, go somewhere else!

Why can't you take charges and take away the three?

I will be interested to see if Akron defends Tony in the same manner as Buffalo did. If that is the case I would like to see Tony become a little more assertive against this kind of D which could result in drawing fouls.
When I look at these 2 teams the only real difference I see is Akron is still a good team, but Ohio has improved since the last meeting and probably is considered playing it's best ball these past 10 games, 8-2, which I see as a plus.
Now the mental toughness aspect enters into the picture, as this game is also on the road. To have a really good team you must learn to win on the road, which we have improved on over last year under Saul.

I thought a big issue in the last game was Akron's very effective double team pressure on Simmons once the ball crossed half court, resulting in turnovers and run outs. I would imagine some practice time has been devoted to solving that. We'll see how it plays out.

Crazy to think that if we were able to close them out in Athens, we'd be the 11-5 team in 1st and they'd be the one chasing. I'm glad the game is on TV although I'm confused who the America Sports Network is or where they came from. Love seeing all you folks that are going.

We'll need Jordy & KK to be hitting the 3s tonight. Should be a great game.

I mean you can. That kinda goes without saying. I think initially I'm more concerned with doubling down on Johnson and his kick outs for wide open threes. That's probably what I should have put in the original comment.

For those of you going tonight, I offer this tip: If you're on one of the top floors of the parking garage at the corner of Carroll and Spicer streets, go ahead and walk to a nearby establishment after the game for an appetizer or a soda because you aren't getting out of said garage for at least an hour. Traffic was an absolute debacle trying to leave there when we went a few years ago.

71, this sounds like you didn't think Tony drew fouls against the Beefs, or that the doubles on him didn't cause defenders to have to reach and foul when Jaaron or others penetrated. I agree we have to get the ball TO Tony more than we did against the Beefs.

"shut everyone else down"

Hmm, wish I was smart enough to have the strategy for that in my back pocket. I get your point but I'm not sure exactly how this team achieves that goal, or any team. I think it's easier to strategize to shut one player down than to let one player go off and "shut everyone else down."

We've had trouble with pressure defenses all season. I think part of it is that we don't play that much in-your-face D, so we can't practice against it. We play tight D only occasionally and sometimes when it counts most. I'd like to see us do more of it so we can learn to handle it on offense, too.

+1. I think a little pressure D would be a nice component to add to the arsenal over the summer/fall. There is plenty of ability to, but not much effort put forth, in trying to create a lot of turnovers. 2-3 extra turns a game from a little pressure could make a big difference.
