Interested to see how young team handles success. 5 of 6 wins...some big road wins against top-half MAC teams in UT, Ball & UB. Up to #2 seed. Probably getting patted on back...playing game vs team they should beat (but not a gimmie)

This game will show a lot about maturity of team and how much they've grown up.

Door is open for them to finish #2 (or higher with some luck)...are they able to stay the course?

Side note, I find it interesting that EMU has that much activity on a message board, but struggle with attendance. You'd think the two would correlate a little bit.
OUr AVERAGE attendance home MAC games this year is higher than their TOTAL attendance all MAC home games this year - jeesh. A boisterous Convo (the Real Convo) could be all it takes to rattle 'em enough
I found this while perusing the EMU board that Danny's Knee shared earlier:

http://www.easternecho.com/article/2016/02/empty-seats-th...

While this writing gave me an appreciation for the proximity that the old barn had to dorms on campus, I'd still ask them a couple questions:

*Why, if it's so far away, was it manageable for the first 6-8 seasons when they averaged over 2000 for much of those seasons?
*What are they doing to get buses, if they aren't already, made available to students from their main campus?

This should be a real basketball tussle.

If you are anywhere able to get to this one, you oughts to.

EMU's record has them 4th worst team in MAC (conf games only). But from reading here it seems like they're now playing like the 3rd or 4th best team in MAC.

I'll be listening to the Russ and Rob call driving in to work and watching intermittently in between classes. Wish I could straight up watch it but,...
Going to be a great match up with Tony and JT4 going at it. As Jeff said, gotta wonder what Saul has in store for him... Also, how banged up is KK? I guess we didn't lean on him too much in Buffalo.

EMU's attendance is a favorite punching bag both here and on the MAC board. They have buses, and the location of the Convo is not the issue. They don't draw for all the same reasons other MAC schools struggle, but all the factors are heightened there.

- Students see them as small-time in the B1G world - even worse when you can easily ride your bike the the Michigan campus from EMU.
- EMU is not the first or second choice for many students. They go because it is affordable and easier to get into that the larger UM or MSU.
- Pathetically little community support. Last time I was there for a game, I went to a bar across the street from campus and no one working there knew there was a game that day.

EMU has those problems, but it's even worse. They probably have more commuters (read: students who have no loyalty to the school or interest in sports whatsoever) than any MAC school. Some of the oldtimers on the EMU board claim the name change from Hurons was the beginning of the end, but I really question that.

EMU has a great arena and an above average athletics program, but I see pretty much no hope for them ever moving the needle on attendance. I don't say that to trash talk them. I just think it's reality.

According to The Messenger, we have all 5 starters averaging double figures:

http://www.athensmessenger.com/sports/ohiouniversity/ohio...

Simmons 14.0
Dartis 10.0
Setty 10.3
Kaminski 12.8
Campbell 17.0

How often, at OHIO, in the MAC, anywhere, does a team accomplish that team stat this late in the season? Seems to be an impressive ball-sharing accomplishment to me that most teams don't reach, but maybe it's more common than I realize?

I don't think it's very common. I believe the 2010 team did it but I can't think of any others recently.

Edit: Just looked at the last 15 teams and only this year, 2010 and 2007 did it happen. Interestingly the 2007 team had five players (Tillman, Williams, Walther, Davis, Troutman) averaging 12 or more. Not a lot of scoring off the bench on that team.

Double Edit: Disregard the 2010 team. One of those was Stevie Coleman who only played ten games.

Our bench in 2007 was Stephen King and a freshman KVK.

Stephen King WAS Minnesota Mr. Basketball 2002 (Academy of Holy Angels) not a runner up. Maybe you were thinking of Jeff Halbert who was a finalist for the award that same year (White Bear Lake).

I feel like we collectively as a fanbase and community could've steered him in a better direction as far as life choices go. Like marrying anyone else in the world other than Kim Kardashian.
