Seems like when we are shooting well, we draw energy and play a little better defense. Harder for us to lock down when we aren't shooting well. We will play better D next season.

Full strength or not, I think we will get 110% shot from Albany in this game. The little bit I am familiar with the program, I fully expect the Pedagogues to play hard on both sides of the ball. Seen enough of them in the NCAAs against much bigger programs to know they leave it all on the court.
This is what I'm hoping for from the team. Just leave it all out on the floor because last time out they played like garbage for the first 20 mins and let a TERRIBLE Hartford team beat them in the first round of the conference tourney, on their home court, as defending 3-time champs and after beating them by 26 and 16 during the season. The 16 point win came 4 days earlier also at Albany. I think it was a case of overconfidence, which is very unlike a Will Brown team, especially when it comes to tourney time.

If we don't have Singletary, it won't be enough. Even with Singletary on the road it would have been a tall order. Going to be really tough without him.

Ahh yes, I'm obsessed with Albany because I'm writing on a board I've been a member on for 10 freaking years. Funny though, do you know what board I'm not a member on? Albany's. So Fleck off and stop flattering yourself.

This entire conversation is getting me more interested in this game, I must admit. Too bad I'll be on my way to Providence when it's all going down.

DanesRGood,
I wasn't saying Singletary is your only player. I was saying he's your biggest slasher and there's a big drop off behind him in the ability to get to the hoop. Sanders might be your best bet since Cremo is still pretty raw. I wouldn't call Hooley a slasher at all. He shoots jump shots more than anything and his percentages have fallen off from past years.

You said he was the only player worth noting, which is not the case.

As someone who has watched Hooley for 4 years and maybe missed about 10-15 games total in those years, I wholeheartedly disagree. Hooley's game has always been creating, driving and trying to draw the fouls or dishing. Sometimes he forces it and sometimes he gets out of control but the jump shot is not his go to. Is Singletary better at it, probably and Sanders may be just as good. There was a long stretch during conference play where Sanders was our best player.

I do agree with Click though that if we don't have Singletary our chances are slim because he runs the offense and is our best 3 point shooter. It was reported though on twitter that Singletary says he will play but not looking good.

Tim Wilkin ‏@tjwilkin 3h3 hours ago
.@UAlbany_MBB PG Evan Singletary says he expects to play vs. Ohio U in CBI. @UAHOOPSWB (Coach Will Brown) says Singletary will have to show he can help. .@UAHOOPSWB said Singletary was "same" on Monday. "Took few free throws and mid range shots after practice, but none during."

Beating little sisters of the poor? Tell me how many times UA won the championship going up against UMBC or Maine. Which year did either of those two make it to the AE finals?

As for your last paragraph...figures you don't have three firing synapses to work through the complicated proposition put forth for your consideration. The joke is you pretending you have a viable FBS program...

Funny, I don't know a thing about UB, yet you are obsessed enough to provide a roster and talent breakdown on UA, know how many folks attend our games etc. I'm here posting about a game these two teams (UA/Ohio) are about to play. You're here to do what? Can't find your way to the Miami board to troll them?

Like I said...seek help! Keep on keeping on...

Apparently you don't remember anything I've told you in the past (and btw Bobcats fans, apologies for this. It goes back years). I grew up in Albany, lived there all my life, and I deal with Albany fans constantly. I've had to listen to Albany fans claim they "own SUNY athletics", and I just love how the entire city rips on the city of Buffalo as though the Capital District itself isn't a garbage pit. Now you're stepping into my territory in the MAC to take on a team that I know extremely well. You're going to get a little taste of what we have to accomplish to get to the Dance every year. Just let me know if it compares to playing in New Hampshire's gym in front of 300 old people reading John Grisham novels mid-game.

Can we go back to talking about your matchup with the Bobcats instead of hijacking their board for age-old arguments? Who is going to be your slasher with Singletary out? I don't think you have one. Cremo will get his a$$ blown apart trying to go after Campbell.

You mention playing in front of 300 people and imply that a lot more people than that will be in attendance for Ohio-Albany at the Convo. I hope you're right but I'd be shocked if there are more than 2,000 in attendance.

Looking over their roster and stats it appears that they seem to play a real team game as there is not 1 or 2 great players with stand out stats.
If, as someone stated earlier, 2 players could be out, 1 is their leading scorer. This will certainly have an affect.
Spot on. They don't have a lot of raw talent but play great team ball because they have a great coach. Now that Singletary is out, Sanders and the new guy, Cremo, are really the only guys who can slash to the basket but they play a lot of inside-outside ball trying to get open shooters. Your talent level is light years ahead of what they have and outside of Warney (Stony Brook) they haven't seen a big man like Campbell all season. One thing that is always crucial against a Will Brown Albany team - THEY DRAW FOULS. They flop like Italy in the World Cup and are really good at drawing charges. Hopefully Simmons keeps this in mind.

I think the biggest factor here is that this team is used to playing in high school gyms with little to no fan/student support. Get the OZone into it and introduce them to the MAC. Good luck, boys. As much as I've fought you guys over the years, my hatred of Albany as an institution runs deeper.
Good old clodny, apparently still upset that UA has eaten SBU's lunch for years. Tracked all the way over here to disparage UA.

Team finally breaks through the NCAA's (SBU) after a decade of failure and you have nothing better to do but post here about your hatred for Albany the institution.

Good to see we all support fellow AE schools.

For the record, Albany led the AE in attendance during the regular season...I'm sure you forgot that. Our "highschool" gym holds more people than your gym.
This HAS to be a BobcatAttack first. Two posters who root for schools other than Ohio going at it? I'm all in for this.

No man! We've had crazy Marshall fans going nuts all over this board before. I love waking up to this stuff!

And this, ladies and gentle cats, is why I will root for Ohio over our little brothers from UA...

ClickClack leads in slamming clodny like he is a Stony Brook fan

"Good old clodny, apparently still upset that UA has eaten SBU's lunch for years. Tracked all the way over here to disparage UA."

and then when he realizes his fail just edits his post...

If you want the abbreviated version of what this moron is talking about here it is.

UB came up with a strategic plan to improve itself. Albany, which can't keep up institutionally with UB or Stony Brook, blocks it in the legislature.

But while UB and SB keep growing and adding schools UA is losing students and had it's nano college taken from it by SUNY. Rather than focus on making themselves better their legislative focus has been holding back the SUNY centers who have their shaq together.

Now the the Bulls have won the MAC twice their goto insult "you've never danced" is gone. So now I guess they are shifting to the "we kept you from growing" line of retorts.

This all adds up to

Please curb stomp these jokers all the way back to smAlbany..

I will be rooting for you like never before!

So I'm trying to keep tabs on this ongoing discussion and understand it. Let me know if I've gotten it right thus far...the whole state of New York and the whole SUNY system is terrible and a wonderful example of why politicians should stay out of education...

I received an email stating that there are 250 lower bowl tickets left. If the lower bowl sells out and a few hundred students show then look for a crowd of 3 to 3500. I have never seen a crowd of less than 3000 at the convo when the students are in town....btw good luck to the Bulls. Miami is not a terrible draw.

"Over 250 lower bowl tickets" was what it said. Could be 90% of them. Don't count on a good crowd based on that email

This is entertaining. Sorry I have not been around this week. Stumbled on it and made for good reading. It is interesting that the name calling "moron" and things like that jumped in here. Not something I am used to seeing on THIS board but hey....New Yorkers gonna be New Yorkers..... Ted, Jeff and Andrew deserve our thanks for keeping OUr board from degrading to this ....or worse.

NOtable that this was a first time I have run across this misuse of a word. SO significant that I had to comment on it... I am constantly beside myself biting my tongue and not commenting on commonly misused words ...Don't mind the to, too, two at the beginning of the sentence but after thousands of times we have seen teams "loose" a game or people who hate "loosing" it is the first time I have seen the opposite usage of the word. Many here would seem to favor Loose women over women who lose.

When I called to reserve my tics today - they said sales were pretty good. We could easily see 4K+ I would think.

My day tomorrow - From Cbus - Drive to Cincy for work appointment - Drive to Athens for game - drive back to Cbus after game......Sure hope some within 6 blocks to 60 mile radius will make the effort......

You are a liar but I don't think people in Ohio want to read two SUNY fans go at it. We've been through this countless times no need to rehash it again. One point of clarification, you know full well why Nano was stripped from us and it had NOTHING to do with UAlbany's capabilities to manage that program. In fact it was UAlbany that incubated and started one of the most successful nono research facilities in the world. It was dirty politics of NYS and the cozy relationship by Nano with the Governer and city of Buffalo plans that are now under federal investigation. In the meantime, UA has started and engineering school and moving towards a merger with Albany Law and remains one of the flagship institutions in NYS. Had UB gotten it's way, today there wouldn't be 4 flagship campuses of the SUNY system and with that disproportionate funding advantages for your school. That kills you...so while you spin your BS here, the reality is your school tried to deliberately disenfranchise two SUNY schools so that you can reap the financial and other support. To bad for you that the rest of the state legislature saw through your Machiavellian schemes, you actively pushed to be named one of two flagship campuses. Do I need to dredge up the press conference put on by Spitzer?

But you knew that...let me know when you want to revisit this again, preferably not here.

Looking at UAlbany's stats:

* Defensive 3 pt% is 30%. Excellent.
* They out rebound their opponents by 8.
* They shoot 46% from the field.
* One shocking stat is that they've shot over 800 free throws for the year, hitting almost 75% of them. Opponents have shot less than 500 fts.

It looks like we need to keep them off the offensive glass and away from the free throw line.

We've had trouble defending people off the dribble so this will be a challenge.
