Its not the finish any of us wanted, but tonight is a great learning experience for this very young team and I sincerely thank them and congratulate them on their success this year. A more than doubling of their win total from last year is no small feat.

I think finishing 2nd in the MAC in the regular season and getting to the MAC Tourney semis is definitely more than I expected! You just don't throw a team together and expect them to win the MAC in their 1st season together; that just doesn't happen. Give Coach Phillips 2 more recruiting classes and watch out! The arrow for this team under Coach Phillips is definitely pointing up!!

They're not done yet. This team could win the CIT or CBI.

You summed it up perfectly, Mark.

The turbulence created by Christian's short tenure set our program back, but I feel good about us being on the right trajectory again. We can use a couple more pieces, but we have the nucleus in place. Put the work in this summer, and next year is going to be a lot of fun.

We've got some good ones.
I worry a little about depth and defense. Don't see a new guy or two solving that. We'll have to see how it all progresses next year.

Not sure what you saw vs what I saw; that was an embarassment. We lost to a team that was coached by a guy that was coaching a high school team 4 years ago. And we're OK with this? This is unacceptable.

What a season.. I'm all in with this Saul Phillips team.. Throughout the games here in Cleveland, what a great teaching coach , kept his cool with the players, a great motivator, this is the kind of coach you want to play for - he gets it . Psyched for more Saul Ball .. We aren't even close to being done this year.. Thanks for the great season Bobcats!! Will be there supporting the team in whatever post season tourney we participate in. !!

Oh chill out. I'm bummed too, but to declare anything as "unacceptable" is just silly. What are you saying?

If the Ohio University men's basketball team 2015-2016 embarrasses you, you should just transfer to Marshall.

I'm all about Saul Ball but can we ever play zone d? They were killing us man to man and we made no adjustments...have to question that strategy...

you were embarassed? really? By a bunch of kids that had no lack of effort while wearing the OHIO jersey? By a coach so invested he walked away from the interview with a tear in his eye? That is unacceptable? I did not see anyone give up or not care. I did not see behaviour unbecoming. SO what is it that embarasses? Oats did a great job with the scout. The Buff preparation was spot on. The Bulls responded with good D, made shots, really good ball movement, rebounding, getting out in transition and played exceptionally well peaking at the right time. Against a team that is cobbled up from previous coaches and styles? With obvious personnel holes and deficits, learning a new system. No CLue why that was an unacceptable embarassment. ....HS or not the guy had a pretty good grasp of the game and how to plan for it. I don't care where a guy was 4 years ago...when I heard his breakdown and plan I had respect for his ability. That you choose to equate previous coaching experience with an unacceptable ascension to beating us is beyond comprehension. Groce was HS freshman coach when he started. So waht? This guy jumped in when Hurley left and made the most of an opportunity. Sorry for you...Coach and the players are the ones who should be embarassed and deserve better treatment by fans. "Unacceptable" is this analysis of what was going on tonite.

I agree with Lembright and bornacatfan. Buffalo is good and they did a great job tonight. It just wasnt our night. We would have needed to have shot 50% from the field to win tonight. We didn't shoot well. We will be fine. We beat this team two out of three games but this was their night. I'm sure this staff will be working on improving the defense. Those weaknesses were exposed tonight but Buffalo puts up big offensive numbers against most teams.

I really like the switching defenses idea. I watched Middle Tennessee execute this to perfection last night against Marshall. That 1-3-1 they use shut Marshall down every time they switched to it. I would like to see the Cats use a similar strategy, show some different defensive looks to throw the other team off.

I guess what it comes down to is that I measure results, not effort. I recall Timmy O'Shea's teams playing their hearts out. I also notice he doesn't get a pass for that on this board. Other than that, you pretty much made my argument for me, what with all the headwinds Buffalo faced and that they still managed to take us to the woodshed.

Very frustrating watching last night's loss to a team we know the Bobcats can beat, but I'm amazed and impressed by how far this team came in 1 year. We'll miss Treg, but I really believe that next year will be a very good year to be a Bobcat. I'm really fired up for both our basketball and football seasons next year!

Cbus WTF! Go root for the Buckeyes you'll fit right in! Really who wasn't disappointed with last notes loss. It wasn't for lack of effort. Buffalo was simply the better team last nite - it happens. Shots we buried Thurs nite didn't fall for us last nite. Buffalo did to us what we did to them when we torched them on their home floor earlier this year. The hit everything they threw up.

Was I disappointed - certainly. Embarrassed Not a Effing chance!!

Go Bobcats!!!!

-Doubled win total

-Featured three players on All-MAC teams.

-A junior player won MAC POTY

-A sophomore player was 3rd in the country in assists.

-Three freshmen got SIGNIFICANT playing time and experience.

-Won a game in the conference tourney and will most likely play in some other post season games.

-From what I can tell, got the fans back into thanks to a team and coach who are committed to OU.

-Scouting and signing good talent.

What's not to like about this program at the moment? I'm upset about the loss, but I'm not losing sleep. Ohio will be better next year. Seriously, Saul is finding guys that nobody else wants and turning them into a team. Jason Carter is gonna surprise some people. If Saul can get his hands on an athletic wing like LePear Toles or Desmond Bane or a backup PG like Jayvon Graves, the sky is the limit here. Let the coaches figure out the D, conditioning and strength in the off-season. That's why they get paid.
