Kuany has been in uniform that last 3 games. Not sure if he was, or will be, eligible to play.
I really got my first good look at Kuany during the Muskingum game. The kid looks like he was recruited from an Australian refugee camp. I'd be surprised if we see any production from him this season.
lol man stop it

He has good pedigree. And good tape. All his brothers are rail thin and played college basketball. I believe both now play in the Australian league.
Yea, idc if Kuany is 195-200 lbs at his height. If his athleticism can play this year, I’m all for the jolt during MAC play.
Does anyone know for 100 percent sure that he's eligible now to play against CMU? I've seen a lot of speculation, but if there's been a direct quote from a coach on this I've missed it.
This is where once again having no media presence hurts to ask a simple question to Boals. Is Kuany redshirting? I thought we were under the belief that he was redshirting? I'm certainly not expecting him to play this season.
SBH caught wind of an interesting comment a few weeks back from an OU staffer — he posted in the Redshirts thread. This has led to speculation that perhaps Kuany isn’t redshirting and is eligbile as of 1/1. We’ll find out soon either way.

Here's the deal as I see it. If Kuany plays, that means less time/minutes for Evans ... and both lose that freshman redshirt. Unless Kuany is playing 15-20 minutes a game this has more negatives to it all around than positives.

Just my opinion .. but Portal/NIL has a lot of these coaches spooked about losing players if they don't play them. I guess I get it. But having Kuany-Evans fighting for 7-10 minutes a game, instead of just playing one and redshirting one seems counter-productive in the long haul. And you could lose both because of it.

There’s no long haul anymore in college sports. You play year-to-year and hope to retain your best players at the end of each season.

Evans and Kuany are nothing more than unproven commodities at this point. We all need to pump the breaks like our roster is full of future P5 stars destined to get a bag of money for greener pastures. Honestly, I sometimes wish that were the case because we’d be probably sitting at 10-2 and more of a sure thing, instead of wondering what the hell we are after non-conference.

If either of them are able to contribute this season and help win a MAC title, that’s what you play for. There’s nothing counter-productive about that. Worry about next year’s roster next year. There’s a chance neither finish their careers as Bobcats not matter what the outcome is, so who really cares if they’re competing against each other for minutes (it’s not like Evans is getting many of these) at the same time.

100% perfectly said.

"You play year-to-year."

If you are a division-one college basketball coach, especially at the mid-major level, you just have to assume you might not have one player on your current roster come back the following season. It's reality.

Play for today. Not for tomorrow.

I guess I'm old school. I think 'playing for today' is not the way to sustain a successful program. ... one successful year followed by a string of average-bad years ... hoping next year is another big year ... is fools gold at this level.

But like I said. I'm old school.

I don't like it either. But it's the realty of the NIL/Portal college athletics world we live in. I believe most coaches are coaching for today with their roster and not for tomorrow.

I would take what SBH shared with us concerning Kuany with a grain of salt.

Like he mentioned in the redshirt thread, there was food involved during the conversation he had with an Ohio athletics official. And when there's food in the vicinity, SBH loses what little focus he had to start with.

We are 4.5 point favorites. Starting off with a real big swing game that can help make or break our conference season.

I don't think losing at CMU is going to make or break our season. Now follow that up with a loss at Buffalo Tuesday night and we have some problems moving forward.

Agree here. 1-1 on this trip seems most likely and perfectly acceptable in big picture. Beefs a much easier dub.

If we don't play with more effort we will not win a game in the MAC. This team looks lethargic to start this game. No energy. Did Hadaway forget he is the energy guy? Does Elmore not realize he looks like a linebacker. Dang.

That's the best 10 minute stretch I've seen this year. Ball moving, shots falling, running. That's what this team should look like.

Ohio has made only 3 three pointers in the first half (all by AJB) on 14 attempts. However, the Cats are 12 of 15 on 2-pt attempts (80%) and have 11 assists on their 15 field goals. Every starter has at least 1 assist at the break with 4 from JP.

0 1st-half minutes for Ohio frosh.

No, they should be embarrassed by how poor this league is in basketball. I’ve never seen two worst teams.
Everybody thinks they’re number one on this team and none of them are.

We were lucky to hold on at the end. Team completely folded after going up by 10. Multiple turnovers by Mitchell, Pavs missing free throws and forcing things in the paint. Thank goodness AJ Brown hustled back on defense and forced a turnover with 10 seconds remaining.

I'll take any MAC road win but this team still needs to clean a bunch of things up.

With that said, they also had multiple stretches of great basketball and should improve to 2-0 in MAC play on Tuesday in Buffalo.

No embarrassment here. Road conference wins are good wins, and I love seeing it earned by defense and toughness. Even the effort on rebounding was there and they gave it a good go against a much taller team.

One statistic not tracked is number of times a team drives into the paint and turns the ball over. We would have to be number one in the league and maybe the country.

The epitome of just win baby. I have no clue what we were doing in the last five minutes, but they just needed to get out of there with a win and they did.

Give a game ball to #TheUpgrade. Three buckets on three straight possessions in the second half and then a huge screen to set up the PAV three to break it open.

Get the hell out of town and move on. Teams are going to lose in Mount Pleasant this year. CMU won’t shoot that poorly the rest of the season.

Agree, Bernie, I don’t care which guard it is. They all do the same thing. They get in the lane and have no clue what they’re gonna do then. Pav, Sharif, Sheldon, James, you name one they do it

I guess I should say Sheldon was good tonight got on lane and then he just threw the ball up and got a couple prayers answered. Normally he doesn’t.

Seems like Boals has made the decision to go to an eight man rotation in conference play. I still think Elliott can grab some of Elmore’s minutes. And he should have tonight. And he probably should’ve gotten some of Reef’s minutes because he really struggled tonight.

Shoot 1-16 from three like the team did aside from Brown, you're gonna find that paint full.

JSF if they pass the ball or make the shot or got fould it would be good. Rather than any of those we tend to just turn the ball over.
