I would like to request shabamon, who started a thread tracking dunks by ohio players, to start a new thread that tracks shots by ohio players that are swatted by the opposition. By my unofficial count, ohio leads the nation in this category.
We may seriously lead in made threes while being fouled.

This edition of ohio basketball is terribly flawed. Ohio, down 4 at the half, might end up beating texas st., but this is not a good team. We might even win the MAC, but that's an indictment of what MAC basketball has become and has nothing to do with quality of this team.

I asked this in the MTSU game thread 3 days ago, but what does this team do well?
It's too early to make declarations like that in the current world of college basketball. Every team is going through adjustments due to transfers and new players and it takes time to figure things out.

Ohio has a lot of returners and I was hoping they'd look better than they have but we have a new point guard running the offense, have missed Mitchell for three games and have AJ Brown coming back from injury as well as a new backup center making a jump up from D2.

It's frustrating but what we're seeing in November isn't going to be what we'll see in February.

but if you're strength is supposed to be your guards and shooting, you need more consistency from them.
Not sure why any scouting report would say OUr strength is shooting. Or, while we're at it, OUr guards

Then you obviously don't understand why Ohio was picked to win the MAC this year.

Two guards with preseason All-MAC honors and a First-Team All-MAC power forward known for his 3-point shooting but the scouting reports wouldn't be aware of any of that... Seriously??

That's the conference Ohio plays in and we judge the Bobcats compared to their peers.

I really don't get where you're coming from with your rebuttals. We're not saying OU is on the same level as Big Ten schools and they've rarely been a Top 100 program in the past decade. The goal is to be good in the MAC and try to get a NCAA bid and this team is capable of that.

I don’t like to second quess the coaches but if I were in charge, I would forbid anyone from shooting anything short of a breakaway layup unless there is at least one teammate under the basket. When you’re making only 30% of your 3’s and there’s no one underneath, you are just giving the ball away.

Haven't scored for 3 minutes, and we're clearing out an entire side of the court for Searles?

We are simply atrocious defensively. Entered tonight 258th in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency.

If only we had a 6'9 top recruit who could come in off the bench to help with rebounding.

Have you looked at his rebound rate when he's on the floor?

Literally couldn't get one important defensive stop down the stretch. Boals and company should be embarrassed.

Texas State is decent overall but they're nowhere close to an offensive juggernaut. Then Mitchell gets hurt on top of it.

Awful start to the season for this team. I'm still hopeful they'll figure things out down the line but they are playing some poor basketball right now.

Accepting the reality that this team may suck. What offense do we run? Why are we playing so slow? We have 8 guys who want to back down defenders. SHARE THE BALL!!!

Can it be worse than what we have? Also hard to do anything when you play 60 seconds at a time.

Rebound rate just measures the percentage of rebounds you get when you're on the floor.

And based on that, it is worse.

With as much experience this team returns in the portal era, it shouldn't be a work in progress. We are what we've seen through the first 7 games and that is not a good team. No one has answered my question going back a few games and that is what does this team do well?
