Where I get upset is when teams in our region / conference / tier are getting these guys and we are not.
I've brought it up a dozen times, but YSU...
HOW?
- DJ Burns (Murray State transfer) had 24 points and 17 rebounds on Wednesday. Just broke their record for double-doubles in a season. He's 11th in the country in rebounding. Averaging 13/10 this season. He's 6'6".
Double Doubles:
Enrique Freeman: 22
Zach Edey: 19
DJ Burns: 19
Hunter Dickinson: 14
Armando Bacot: 13
- Ziggy Reid had 20 / 8 in that game. Averaging 15/5 this season. I wrote about him a dozen times last year. Most people in this thread wanted him. Did OU?
I promise you Sherrod Brown did not find some old steel money in Youngstown to get DJ Burns and Ziggy Reid. So how does this happen? Are we not prioritizing big men? They're both one year players, is that why? Why do we keep missing out on these players that should be in Athens? Did we not push for them because they're both 6'6"-6"7" ? They're coming off a nice year, so maybe that's a bit of it - but do we consider YSU a "rival" of ours now? We have to think about YSU poaching our recruits?
How on earth did we let that happen?
I know how you feel. Malik Dia is starting to show up as a second round NBA draft pick for next year in at least one well known mock draft site. And he has absolutely no character or academic issues. Maybe this is the portal season upcoming when Boals and them hit on all cylinders, learning from the past mistakes. Speaking of big guys leaving Vandy, Lee Dort obviously won't be back but the charges of him allegedly choking his lady friend have been dropped. People around NashVegas say he never stopped going to class, he would be immediately eligible? 6-10/250. Other offers out of h.s. included Texas, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor.
How bad do we want to win the MAC? Enough to take a chance on the next Dort?
