This has truly become perhaps even more bizarre than the Lunden McDay scenario when I first got on campus.
McDay was straight forward, no one wanted to believe what was true though. A young man just didn't want to play basketball anymore. He ain't the first, he won't be the last. Just because Joe Fan don't get it, doesn't mean it ain't real or happening. Talked to him the other day, he's happy, that is what matters.
Well, I'm glad to hear it wasn't something of a mental health concern. Me and multiple others within the O-Zone were all extremely concerned about him. Glad he's doing better.
Mental Health is a broad category, he didn't want to play anymore (which he hasn't), but everyone expected him to play, because 1. He was good 2. He always had. That creates it's own mental stigma. Coach handled that like a true players coach, and did what was right to the young man.
Reminded me of Stevie Fresh...his decisions though not implying any "mental" issues...

I really hope they make no public announcement and the web team screws up and forgets to remove IJ from the roster on the website just so you alone have to keep posting this garbage for another year.

Maybe you can start a thread about the sun coming up? Will it go down? A nation waits.

Seems like many on this board are just as curious as I am as to why a 6’8” guy on full scholarship hasn’t been in uniform for 57 consecutive games. Once this program decides to inform us as to why a guy who was supposed to contribute this season is no longer on the team then a nation will continue to wait.

Post of the Year Nominee
Thread of the year nominee as well.

As of today….3,234 views.

The third most viewed thread since the season started. Guess the status of Bahamas has the attention of many here.

I'm impressed that you took the time to count my posts. That is true Bobcat Attack dedication. You keep coming back for more so I guess the topic of the mysterious Bahamas Ezuma is one that continues to intrigue you as well.

I look forward to an official announcement from Boals concerning the status of Bahamas. Until then.....we can only wonder why we are still asking the question on February 11th when reporters close to the program refuse to do it? As MDWST pointed out numerous times here, it's not hard to ask the simple question..."Coach...what is the status of IJ Ezuma?" He hasn't been on the bench for the last three games. Is Ezuma still a member of this basketball program?" It's very odd that question hasn't been asked by one reporter covering the team this season.

While this thread is eccentric, it only highlights the absurdity in the lack of coverage surrounding the team, especially as it relates to this situation. If Russ says he's not going to ask coach about IJ in a coach's show because he is a university employee, it implies that an outside reporter could/should. So why hasn't that happened? Has Boals or the media relations team requested off the record to not ask?

Earlier this year, Ed Cooley lit a fire under student reporters at Georgetown to grow some balls and ask tough questions. Here's video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TXzcSm0haBU . Where's that fire in our house?

Thank you.

Is it really a difficult ask to what we as fans are asking and want to know? At this point, Boals is making it worse concerning Bahamas with his silence. All he has to do to end the speculation concerning Bahamas is make a statement concerning his eligibility and status with the program and that ends it.

But Shabamon brings up a great point that has been alluded here from time to time. The lack of coverage surrounding this program is an embarrassment. Boals has it way too easy in this department. I wonder if Arkley were still around if we'd know by now what the deal is with Bahamas Ezuma??

It was Arkley that asked during Boals' introductory press conference whether there was any spite between Boals and Schaus from being passed over twice for the job, with Schaus and Boals sitting right next to each other. Where is that courage from our media now?

Zero courage exists.

I do think if Arkley were still covering the team, we would have known something a long time ago.

The season is almost over and here's the good news. Guys will be jumping into the portal left and right. There are all sorts of potentially impactful basketball players would could end up in Athens with that schollie as opposed to a guy who averaged 1 point and 1 rebound per game. The temporary annoyance of not having a third string center will be a thing of the past hopefully. As we found out quickly (the Otterbein game) - there are lower division power forwards who can go head to head with their D-1 peers. One of their 6-8 posts is shooting 60% on the season and the other is 66% shooting. And they just upset highly-touted lower division rival John Carroll.

If you're 6'8" and putting up numbers at a lower division, don't care if its D2,D3, NAIA, or Juco, there should be a scholarship waiting for you in Athens at this point. No more scholarships left unused, I still can't understand why it happened this year.

There is a scholarship unused, and hell poor Whiz is 6’8” and he got a scholarship as the majority here can’t stand him. But, hey if I’m 6’8” in DIII and fracking up number, it’s due to I’m just bigger and badder.

I think G Wiz is closer to 7-feet-tall but signing just any 6-8 or taller guy could lead to a below Wiz situation. There are lots of big slow uncoordinated tall guys in the world.

I'm not a mind reader but the point might have been (re: D-3 ball) that if Wiz was playing D-3, he would be averaging a double-double due to the level of competition. His back to back dunks vs Fiami at a critical point in the second half is evidence of that.

IMO I don't think this would be the case. Sure, he would tower over most in D3 but his lack of athleticism/quickness would be too much to overcome to average a double-double. All hypothetical so there isn't a right/wrong opinion.

Where I get upset is when teams in our region / conference / tier are getting these guys and we are not.

I've brought it up a dozen times, but YSU...

HOW?

- DJ Burns (Murray State transfer) had 24 points and 17 rebounds on Wednesday. Just broke their record for double-doubles in a season. He's 11th in the country in rebounding. Averaging 13/10 this season. He's 6'6".

Double Doubles:
Enrique Freeman: 22
Zach Edey: 19
DJ Burns: 19
Hunter Dickinson: 14
Armando Bacot: 13

- Ziggy Reid had 20 / 8 in that game. Averaging 15/5 this season. I wrote about him a dozen times last year. Most people in this thread wanted him. Did OU?

I promise you Sherrod Brown did not find some old steel money in Youngstown to get DJ Burns and Ziggy Reid. So how does this happen? Are we not prioritizing big men? They're both one year players, is that why? Why do we keep missing out on these players that should be in Athens? Did we not push for them because they're both 6'6"-6"7" ? They're coming off a nice year, so maybe that's a bit of it - but do we consider YSU a "rival" of ours now? We have to think about YSU poaching our recruits?

How on earth did we let that happen?

I know we were interested in Ziggy - there’s a tweet in the portal thread with us listed. We were connected to Foster, Ziggy, Javonte Brown, Isaiah Carr, Justin Wilson, TJ Nesmith, and the WVU kid.

We know what happened with a few, but not all. However, each one is producing this year whether it’s starting or in rotation. More importantly, each player checks the box of size we desperately have needed all season and outside of the WVU kid — each one landed at an equal or lower mid-major.

Still brutal that not one was landed.
