you can NOT honestly tell me you think there were 3000+ in that building last night. If there were 3570+ tickets sold, that's great and I hope we are maximizing revenue, but please. I can't EVEN!! The student bleachers were about 1/4 full (lame) and we only had half the normal pep band. and there weren't many people behind them. The old people side was nice and full in the bleachers and lower bowl and probably looked nice on the video, If the Athletic department really thought 3500 people were going to show, there's no way they only open 1 concession stand. Yes, I wish everyone with a ticket actually went to the game, but that just didn't happen yesterday. a Completely full bleacher set on both sides and lower bowl might be 3000 people. Maybe. and we did not have that.
Well, I don't know the official section capacity numbers but if you're correct then you're saying the upper bowl holds 10,000. I don't see it. My guess is that the upper bowl holds closer to 8,000 and the lower bowl plus bleachers holds 5,000. I can't believe there were too many passionate donors who went out of their way to buy a ticket or tickets for this game when they had no intention of showing up. Are you saying 3567 is a completely made up number? And the the Athletic Department may not have prepared for that number so only prepared one concession stand and there were more walk-ups than they expected? Seems reasonable. My guess is that MANY locals did not bother pre-ordering.
I would bet that the upper bowl is absolutely close to 10k of the seats and the lower bowl plus bleachers accounts for about 3k or even a little less, but I did a little math to be sure. I counted the seats in one of the biggest lower bowl sections, section 101, which has 133 seats. If every lower bowl section (20 of them) all had that many seats, then that's 2660. We know that not every section is that big (e.g. section 120 is around 80-90 seats) so reality is probably anywhere from 2100-2400 in the lower bowl. There are 8 sections on the floor, 4 chairback and 4 bleachers. there are 77 seats per chairback section. if you assume the bleachers are about the same capacity, it's 77*8 for a total of 616. At the MOST, spectator seats below the concourse is 3200. It's probably closer to... 2800-3000.
Again, for as small as it was, it was a nicely engaged crowd last night that made a lot of noise, and I had a blast watching us come back to win. I'm a little shocked that out of 20k students, we got like 150 to come to the game last night as spectators. If we're talking numbers, though, yours don't add up. I don't know if the number is "made up". Did we run a promotion or get a sponsor to pick up 500-1000 tickets at a group rate? Don't know, but I stand by my original estimate.
