This could be a really fun game on Wednesday. I'm excited because I'm actually already going to be in Athens that day!!!! Ohio better be motivated from the tip and not just in the final 8 minutes or the outcome will not be good. This Morehead State team is battle tested and will put us away assuming they are fired up and looking at the scores are 2 quality programs it appears they are. I also anticipate seeing some blue and gold in the Convo Wednesday.

Interesting talk on their message board. Apparently their fans have wanted to play us and would like a home and home series. I approve of that! I think we need to get more series with the likes of Morehead, Murray State, EKU, WKU, etc.

Agreed, they are typically a top 150 team. Not sure why we don't play them much anymore.

I can feel the excitement for this one.

A tough, local team storming into the Convo for a postseason matchup? Bobcats better bring their A game.

I think there are several opportunities to strengthen our schedule within driving distance. Besides the already mentioned EKU, Morehead State, and WKU the admin might also consider Middle Tennessee State, Belmont, and Vanderbilt, all within the Nashville metro area. I'd love to see us schedule Vandy in a home/home series. While not always at the top in the SEC it would give us a foot in the door to some future SEC competition. I know we've had Belmont on our schedule in the past but those 3 schools give us access to another major media market and would provide us with formidable competition year after year. (The road trips to Nashville would be a plus for those who follow the Cats on the road as well!)

MSU will come ready to play on Wednesday...count on that. I'm hoping to see even more people in the Convo Wednesday evening than we've seen for the first two contests. While some may want to "poo-poo" this CBI tournament these 2 games thus far have been some of the more exciting I've seen in the Convo this year.

Hey 61, I like your list except for the academic thing. Remember a Greensboro fan posted an unfair slam against our program's academics. Morehead may be doing a good job of reaching APR standards as far as we know.

The rest of your list appears to be spot on re what I've seen from Morehead over the past 10 years or so. Ohio can't afford to wait until the 730 mark of second half to be aggressive in this one. Hope to see us getting in the paint early and often, especially Jaaron. Gotta keep them off the offensive glass. Gotta limit dribble penetration.

Agree that Morehead would be a good school to schedule during the season.

Perimeter that was some good analysis.

I was on Ken Pom looking up records and folks who had won...I am not much a fan of RPI especially in Mid Majors but it looks like the ones who were supposed to win won for the most part.

I think Morehead is a team that has been playing well of late and will be a handful. Woods is a good next level coach. Obvious he is always looking for the door but his backstory will haunt him for a while. (he, like Eustachy, always intrigue me as they are both good coaching talents with moments that will stay with them forever) I think this is more of a Backyard Brawl than we would like to imagine. Woods just signed 2 Indiana guards that should give them some future, a CBI title can be viewed as a stepping stone to bigger things. THe current team post Fareid and Tyndall is 4 years in and holding steady while the fans are a bit like us in that they got used to winning and want more of it.

I hope this is the game that the guys realize they can win this thing and come with the light bulb having clicked on and ready to roll. THis waste of time we are playing in is providing some character building moments for the future and giving us extra moments to understand game planning, prep, gets some extra practice and cement our approaches/philosophies and pick apart what our weakness' are...certainly more tape and more exposure helps identify areas of concern (defense, defending the high ball screen, broken offensive sets, shooting woes) and identifies line ups and personnel that need or want to get on the floor.

This one should be another shootout. Look for scores in the 80's. They are pretty hot right now.

Morehead is a good ballclub. If we don't come out with fire/intensity/passion from the tip (instead of just the last 10 minutes)....and at least TRY to play some defense, we're going to be in a load of trouble.

I thought Albany was going to be a good test, but expected a W at home (I was right). I expected us to roll Greensboro (I was wrong). This one, I have a bad feeling about.

We're going to need a little home court advantage to pull this one off IMO. Quick recovery today and get ready for tomorrow fellas!

I realize people like the Morehead matchup but I was hoping to get the Dukes and Big John Rhodes back in the RoundHouse. I would have enjoyed giving John a very big welcome back reception, not only considering all he has done for OHIO as a player and coach, but for all he's been through the past year or so.

From the Morehead board - common opponents/ results "Ohio U and Morehead have 2 common opponents on the year in Marshall and Tennessee State.
Ohio beat Marshall by 15 in a game in Athens. Morehead beat Marshall by 24 at home.
Ohio beat Tennessee State by 8 at home. Morehead beat Tennessee State by 5 at home and lost by 1 in Nashville.
It appears this will be close one."

When I was a kid OHIO used to play Morehead State fairly regularly (home and away). We used to play Louisville home and away also. These days we probably can't get Louisville to come to the Convo, but I see no reason we can't renew the Morehead series. It's a good regional battle. Go OHIO!

Looking over their roster, I'm not seeing the preponderance of jucos that someone posted earlier. They do have several prep school kids.

Looking at their season stats, this is a very deep, aggressive team. No one averages over 30 min a game. They foul a lot and force a LOT of turnovers. They pound their opponents on the boards.

Hmm--forcing us to turn it over, pounding us on the boards...not a recipe for an OHIO W.

Big out of conference game, regardless of circumstances; definitely a highlight of this post-season.
Big game for them too, apparently. I'm anxiously awaiting word on a Phil Simms sighting tonight.

I have 1 concern as stated in Jason's article today, team fatigue. While both teams should be in the same position as to feeling tired I am still concerned when this is mentioned related to our boys.
While I was concerned about our ability to beat Albany that was not a concern for me going into the Greensboro game. Now this game I have no pre-conceived feelings about at all. Don't know if this is good or bad.

Longtime Morehead fan here. I also remember the hone and home series Morehead and OU had back in the 60s. Morehead, Marshall and Ohio U all played each other home and home in those days and it was a nice ooc series to look forward to.

I don't know much about your team but it appears it will be a close game. of course Ohio has the advantage of playing home. But Morehead is used to playing away with games at Pitt, Indiana, Davidson, Illinois State, St. Louis, East Tennessee and Siena. By this time of the year all teams have a lot of experience.

Morehead is playing its best ball of the year and it is basically because this is the healthiest they have been. Various players have been hurt and missed time during the year. Corbin Collins is still banged up but is at least playing. He is the stabilizer on this team. 11 guys will play.

Basically switching man defense and dribble drive offense. If Arrington and Moon are hitting the team is tough. Team looks to score on put backs.

Should be fun.

btw all are good students which you guys seem to be questioning for some reason.
