The one thing that Kentucky can never provide: an opportunity to surpass his father in becoming the greatest player in a school's storied program history en route to making his millions. How is Saul not selling this?
How is he not selling it? Because it won't sell. And our program may be "storied" to us, but to 18 year old kids at the top of the recruiting board, we are just a run of the mill mid major.
Our 3 NCAA Tournament wins this century would rank us in the top 20 of mid-majors. Definitely not "run of the mill" in the framework of only mid-majors but also not in the same realm as Kentucky's 37 NCAA Tournament wins (this century) which rank them in the top 5 of all of D-1 college basketball.
All-time, Kentucky ranks #1 in this department with 173 tournament wins. Interestingly, Ohio's 7 wins all-time is good enough for #105 overall and excluding the major conferences, we rank 30th. That 30th rank goes up substantially if start excluding schools who were good 50 years ago but are now pretty much irrelevant. Pretty good showing for a mid-major.
