I'm sure this will be a minority o-pinion but I have absolutely no interest.

Seeing the U.S. slaughter everyone--what's the point?

I'd rather we take a team of guys 23 and under (something like that) and see how we do that way.

These aren't even games the way it is. We're so much better that these are exhibitions at best.

Their two games so far have been against China and Venezuela, two of the lesser teams in the tournament. We will see if the blowouts continue against better competition.

I lost all interest in Olympic basketball when they let professionals play.

I agree it's not real fun to watch in the early stages, but isn't the goal of the Olympics to win a gold medal and be the best in the world at a particular sport? Running out some college guys who play closer games and ultimately lose wouldn't be any more enjoyable to me and runs counter to the whole goal of the games. Best vs Best for every country in every sport fielded.

I'm sure there are other events where other countries are dominant like we are in basketball and they win every year by a landslide and take great pride in doing so.

Australia came close to defeating USA today. Game was in doubt until about the 1:00 mark. Really outstanding performance by the Aussies, who have five NBA players.

I disagree with the rest of ya. I like the professionals being involved. Many NBA players are on teams other than USA.

Still boring.

Unlike probably most of you, I've had enough of waltzing to the gold victories.

I'd rather see good competition, win or lose, that the U.S. just blowing away lesser opponents.

Agreed Jeff-that was a very entertaining game to watch-Australia with a 54-49 lead at halftime with several beautiful back-door cuts against the US's defense.

Hey look at it this way-what else was there better to do yesterday from 6-8 pm?

Along those lines, I loved the way the game lasted less than 2 hours. Loved the 10 minute quarters and lack of commercial interruptions.

Obviously, there are teams that challenge the USA. Although America is the obvious favorite, a gold medal is not a foregone conclusion like it was in 1992 and 1996. Argentina won the gold in 2004.

Kylie Irving once had the option of playing for Australia but I guess he declined it. Imagine if he had accepted and were on this Australian team! Maybe Australia doesn't win the Gold but they sure would have won last night.

I think it actually feels like the US is a bit further ahead of the rest of the world right now than they actually are.

Several of the traditional challengers -- Spain, Argentina, Greece, Lithuania -- just happen to be in down cycles at the moment. Additionally, there are other countries, notable Canada and Australia, that are set to get much better in coming international tournaments. The Australian team that played yesterday will be adding Ben Simmons, Dante Exum, and Thon Maker in the next cycle. Canada will have a core of Karl Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, and Trey Lyles in the near future.

I've only watched snippets of some games,but,from the layout of the court and refs' calls, it looks like the Olympic game is getting more and more similar to how the game is played in the U.S.

If only they would do that in wrestling.

Football (with its under 23 rule -- with 3 age exceptions) has been fairly entertaining. After this year I wouldn't mind seeing the same applied to basketball.

I would say give Canada ten years. I think they can be just as big of a load in Olympic play once Wiggins and Co. come into their own.

I think we can put this nonsense to bed now. It's pretty obvious that we're not talking about the first Dream Team versus the little sisters of the poor any more. Basketball is a big time international sport more and more now.

You can argue about the pros playing in the Olympics, but it is what it is. Enjoy the new reality.

10 years from now Lebron James Jr will be 21 years old. I envision a 41 y/o Lebron James making a movie-esque return to team up with his son to defeat alien-invaders from the north.
