Guys, I'd recommend being careful of unrealistic expectations, which sets a fan base up for disappointment. Reminds me of the off season after the Sweet 16 run, with some folks expecting a repeat then bashing the coaches and team when it didn't happen.
How much of a drop off could there be with so many key players returning and more depth? Then in the post season its CBI time buying wins so 20 is about the floor.

Not entirely sure what you mean, Wes. I'm just squeamish about thinking the Georgia Tech game is in the bag and that we will be favored in all our OOC games.

I don't think Jeff is saying fans shouldn't expect Ohio to have a good team, likely better than last year. Just be careful of thinking Ohio will be favored to win games like at Georgia Tech and at Iona. I'd be surprised if Ohio is favored in those games as it stands now. For one, road games are hard to win, no matter the opponent.

I never said OHIO would be favored to beat GA Tech. They will not be favored by the boys in Vegas. All I'm saying is that OHIO will win this game straight up and I'll take the money line....won't need the points. I'm an optimistic Bobcat and I firmly believe the Bobcats will prevail in this game. #Saul>Pastner

I hope so, Fear. I think Ohio will have a good chance at winning there.

In my 15-20 years of impatiently waiting for that very thing, I've seen as early as around the 20th of August, and as late as the third week of September. If I recall, last year it was released shortly after Labor Day.

Thanks! I'm impatient about it, too, and I can never remember when it's typically released. I'm itching to plan a trip to see the Bobcats - and all of my glorious favorite Athens' spots - this winter.

It appears that it was released just prior to Labor Day. That's close enough to give you a thumbs up though.

Thanks Van. I'm chomping at the bit to get some plans laid down for hoops season, so remembering that it was around Labor Day was pretty easy. :)

I believe the proper term is "champing at the bit". Chomp on that...:)

That is true, but the words chomping and champing have very similar meanings, so chomping still generally makes sense. (And most of the time people use "chomping" because they are unfamiliar with "champing."

I wrote something and had to delete it. My buddy who is a big time coach in Cleveland texted me something and I misinterpreted it. Had to delete it. Sorry

Often I'd blame the phone and auto-correct, but this time, argghhh...I got in a hurry.

Good to know. In eagerly planning my trips back to Athens, I spent years thinking the proper term was "drinking at the CI."

If that's where we're going, for me, in the fall through the winter, it's getting to Jackie O's for a few pours of Dark App.

Yes, I completely agree that Jackie O's is the spot to go in Athens these days, especially since I'm older than most of the parents of the kids in the C.I.

I have no problem with the CI other than my fuzzy memory of late nights spent there several years in the past.

I look at the season holistically more so than each game. With the schedules Ohio plays 20 wins ia about the floor unless its a wilderness year. Imagine Larry Hunter's teams on Schaus basketball schedules. Those teams with Gary Trent would have won 28 games. Your worries sound to me like you believe a loss to GT or Iona would derail the greatness of our season which I'm not seeing what we have to lose here. That's all.

Add UW Milwaukee:

Also, I believe Southern is a GO in Athens as is Sam Houston State. No good source, but part of the Ga Tech Tournament. Can't remember if that was already mentioned.

Nice way to show our Wisconsin recruits we're committed to playing some games in their areas so families can come watch them play.

Well, it's in Athens, but I would assume that it's likely a 1-and-1.

Arkley tweeted that this was a buy game, so one year deal.
