I agree that they looked disinterested. I was there tonight. I didn't see the two losses. I hope they didn't look the same way.
They might not have looked as disinterested...but were equally ugly during big stretches. That's what is frustrating/disturbing/concerning with this team.

If happens once (Marshall)...ok,no big deal. But three times in a four game stretch. Kind of troubling.

Not the killer instinct or toughness I thought this team would have

Cleveland St. has a losing record but has already beaten a MAC team in Western. Another effort like last night and it's easily a loss.

What I thought was an anomaly has become a disturbing trend: free throw shooting. With the shooters on this team, it's really surprising to me that we have struggled at the line in a lot of games. Who knows what would have happened at Iona had we made a few more from the stripe. It almost cost us last night, 10/19 from the line in a tight game.

I can't believe a bunch of college kids didn't play better in front of a disinterested crowd right after finals and a week+ before Xmas. For shame!

this board is becoming insufferable.
And your take on the Milwaukee team?

I never bought into the "lifeless crowd argument" dictates how you should play against a below average opponent. Not buying it. Fans are allowed to be disappointed when there isn't improvement from game to game. I don't think Simmons walked on the court...saw a lifeless crowd and said, "Hey guys...no crowd...we can just coast." And this board isn't insufferable. Just smart fans who crave for OHIO to take it to another level consistently.
Remember that "Worst 12-1 team in the country" thread a few years ago. Case in point - and we're 6-2.....

Speaking of us being 6-2, how is it we have played the fewest games in the MAC? Before Milwaukee, nearly every team in the conference had played 10 games, we had played 7 (now 8).

You regularly provide insightful posts on this board, but there's so much wrong with this. I don't think it's insufferable to have expectations that exceed the performance of the last few games by this team of "kids." These players are better than that. This program is better than that. It leads the league in both attendance and spending, so 11-7 in conference and "life on the road" is not very satisfying, and that's the direction we're heading. This team ought to a lot better this year than last, and it's not shaping up that way. Hopefully finals are far enough in the past that they can hit more than half their free throws tomorrow, but I suppose some empty seats could be really distracting, so we shouldn't worry about it lest we become insufferable.

In light of our performance tonight, may OU_ and I reach a compromise and consider espn3 AS "HACKS?"
I had the issue with ESPN3 too. I'd really like to hear the explanation behind that one because I know Marty Bannister was in the building doing the game next to Russ. I listened to half one on radio, then discovered the game was on TWC sports, then had to shut off the, using your term, broadcasting 'hacks' on TWC Sports in the middle of the second half and go back to Russ & Rob. They made it feel to me like they were doing the broadcast for Milwaukee, not as the home of MAC Basketball.

Hmm....2 point win eh? If it were March on a neutral court I'd say survive and advance and put it behind you. In December at home that's....not good.

My take away from the last couple weeks of games is - man, how BAD is Georgia Tech this year? If this team could take care of business on their home floor, they might rival BC for going winless in the ACC this year. Ouch.

I hate to be the skunk at the party, but BC beat Auburn (on a neutral court) so does that make Georgia Tech the worst team in the ACC? I hope not, I would like to think that victory meant something.

As others noted, I think GTech is a little better than you're giving them credit for. They got a nice road win over a solid/decent VCU team last week.

To a degree, I'll second this notion, because an ugly win is always better than a loss. I have concerns (free throws, defensive consistency, Jaaron's consistency, chief among them) but I'm not complaining about an ugly win. Maybe I'm just gettin' older, but for me, it's way to early to get upset about this group's performances. I'm hopeful that Saturday shows a team that is no longer on the post-finals hangover.

I think that the free throw shooting will sort itself out. There are too many guys that are really good shooters for this to carry on. My other two concerns are a "wait and see" approach.
