Unbelievable. I guess using the 5th scholly this year on Gollon will turn out to be a good thing after all.

I'm wondering, with a scholarship open, is there a point guard out there that would be a decent addition? It seems to me that Ryan was going to be asked to be a ball handler to some degree, so this would accentuate the need to add one in '15 or '16 now.

The comments from Saul are pretty telling. The fact that he and the staff were blindsided by this and not much explanation other than a "gut feeling" makes me think he might end up somewhere Ohio doesn't want him to. But I've been wrong before!

But yes, this is a big hit. Had he added some muscle to his frame in the offseason, he could have taken a big step this season.

Chalk this one up to "don't count your chickens". I am totally shocked as Saul says he was. It just shows that when you're dealing with 18-21 year olds (although older folks are fully capable of such news), it's very difficult to predict what is going to happen next. I'm surprised that with all the positivity that Saul exudes that a guy would just pick up and leave, but you just never know what's going on in someone's mind. I was counting on Taylor being a 15 point guy by the time he was a senior. He probably will be, just not for us.

Hate to see him leave. But that low motor was more than just mono.

Future endeavors!

He may have some personal reasons for this so we have to wish him well.

Anyone notice the blip that last Spring Michigan was showing interest? And we were his only offer?

No worries though, this Alonzo Pratt kid seems like he could be the real deal.

Shooting guard has been a bad luck spot for us in recent years. Wingfield, Adams, Morillo, Crute, now Taylor

Go all in on D'mitrik Trice, either this year or next.

From an article on Michigan recruiting last Spring:

“As of right now,” Taylor said,” Michigan is at the top (of my list).”

I guess he finally got his wish! Too bad for the Bobcats but like SP said: Next man up!

I had a bad feeling. A couple weeks ago Wadly had an instagram post that made it seem like RT was leaving... That was the same day another offer popped up on the recruiting board for next year.

Whelp. Hope our freshman wings are the real deal.

Yep, Ryan seemed pretty disinterested. But I've said that plenty before and it doesn't necessarily mean someone would transfer.

Lol at the potentially forming Ohio(Bobcats) to Michigan pipeline. Coaches/recruits/Players. Hopefully AD isn't next.

"Gut feeling"= must mean he senses less PT for him now and in the future. Our newbies must be showing in work outs that they are ready to play now.

Heard it many times over... last one in is first one recruited over.... ya got to think maybe some of the writing may have been on the wall in his eyes. sad to see an Indiana kid head out but it may be that the incoming guys are really showing up and embracing SP's philosophy.

But wouldn't that apply more to Laster than RTaylor? Laster is the one who struggled last year to get PT and find his groove, Taylor played 30min/gm. It also seems like, publicly anyways, that SP was holding him up as the model of what type of player he wanted to bring to Athens. It was the senior Taylor that was on a short leash last year, not the freshman.

The whole thing just seems odd. I wonder if its not about playing time but everything else. He's so docile he almost seems aloof. Maybe wasn't jelling with the rest of the team? Just wild speculation on part. No clue.

Oh well, still much to be excited about for next year.

Another hard lesson for SP that Athens isn't undeniably a land of milk and honey.

Life goes on.

Would Taylor know anything about the new guys since they haven't been on campus very long, just wondering.

Been on long enough for outsiders to see who is who and what is what. Those on the inside gotta have a better feel than guys who stop in and play I would think.

And even though they didn't play, Simmons and Kaminski did practice with the team all of last year, so I have to imagine Taylor's familiar with their game, especially Simmons'.

I've heard Saul speak about Ryan at two Bobcat Caravans the past two years. he was very complimentary both times and genuinely seemed fond of the kid.

C'est la vie. But I must admit I hate to lose anyone from the program. I'm clearly blinded by the flame, though, and have been since my first campus visit.

best wishes to Mr Taylor and Go Bobcats!

Count me in this camp. I just wasn't impressed by Taylor as some others. Seemed disinterested at times and didn't have much energy on the court. I don't believe it's all mono either.

That can be very true at all times, but especially when you have that late recurit, coaching change situation.
