We'd hate to have to "Siberia" a pregame thread! : ) So please can the political references before it mushrooms.

Based on the coach's comments and stat lines, this game could well boil down to how well Ohio handles the pressing and trapping Miami defense. We've actually been a little shaky against that vs Eastern and BGSU. I think if we limit the turnovers, it's likely we will get open looks from three and layup opportunities for Gavin, Jason and Mike.
Not sure about the shaky against BG comment, we seemed to handle it well at least late in the game and got many easy buckets.

KenPom has Ohio as a 9-point favorite with a 77% chance to win. They have been decent at home in MAC play. They are 3-4 but have knocked off NIU, Buffalo and CMU with close losses to Akron and Kent State.

Offensively, Miami is 305th in the nation in offensive efficiency averaging 97.5 points per 100 possessions on an adjusted basis. They don't shoot the three well (31.9% for 307th in the country), they turn the ball over a lot (20.2% of possessions ranking 275th) and don't get offensive rebounds (26.1% ranking 279th).

Defensively, they give up 107.9/100 (220th nationally). They do cause turnovers, forcing 20.4% of opponent's possessions to end in turnovers (74th nationally). But they don't rebound (opponents grab 32% of missed shots - 288th nationally) and foul a lot (FTA/FGA of 40.8% - 289th nationally).

Oh, and Michael Weathers is the top ball-hog in Division 1. He uses 37.6% of Miami's possessions (takes 33% of their shots). Marcus Keene is 4th at 36.6%

Who's the play-by-play guy? Sounds like a bad Pat Summerall impersonator.

Like I've said before, addition by subtraction next year. Believing this more and more with the emergence of Carter and Laster.

Careful though...Kenny was in on more rebounds tonight and tougher post play. And in order for us to win in Cleveland we will need Kenny to hit some shots. Right now we know Jaaron, Jordy, Laster and Jason will show up for big games. It really can come down to whether Block can frustrate the other team's best player, can Kenny hit big shots and can DT come in and make a difference.

I agree. At some point Kenny will get hot in the tournament and contribute and probably be the difference in a game.. The thing that drives me crazy are the unforced turnovers! If Ohio can take care of the ball there is no reason we can't roll into the MAC finals. 17 turnovers against Buffalo, Kent or Ball State will result in a loss.

Live in Oxford and went to the game. 800 fans at the most, of which 150 or so were Bobcats.

It just never gets old, watching OU give Miami a good beat down.

The announcers kept commenting on the youth of Miami and how we have such an experience advantage. In looking at it the experience advantage presents itself in one spot, point guard. Our Freshman and Sophomores outscored their Freshmen and Sophomores 44-33. Our Juniors outscored their Juniors 35-29 (neither team had a Senior score a point). As far as minutes played Ohio had more minutes from Fr/So than Miami, 102-91. Miami had more minutes from Jr/Sr than Ohio, 109-93. But the real experience gap came at the most important position on the court, PG.
