I seem to remember that Larry Hunter once had 5-9 Ladrell Whitehead guard Wally Szczerbiak in a game at Miami.

I don't know. Saying he doesn't normally shoot that well is one thing. Saying that even if you decided not to guard Jaaron he doesn't get 38 is quite another. That's a pretty big jab. [/QUOTE]+1 DumbBrat is correct that 38 points is way above his average, but that's basketball. It happens all the time. But this comment goes too far. These are college kids playing hoops; there is no reason for coaches to even reference opposing players, especially two games later. Lots better ways to say this and still not be "coach-speak." Didn't his off-the-cuff comments get him fired once?? He's been around long enough to know not to go Bill Walton on JS.

What got me most about the Kron loss to BG....Ohio is only 2 back three to play.

Just imagine had Cats not collapsed vs. WMU & UT

And gacked away the home game vs EMU when Tony went down.

Ever heard the old saying "If if's and but's were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas".

Kind of applies here.

Or you could imagine if we didn't stanch the bleeding and retake the lead when Akron made their run in the Convo. "What if" scenarios cut both ways.

For some reason, though, folks almost always go only one way with them. For instance, you can find a zillion what if the South had won the Civil War scenarios, but virtually no what if McClellan had more guts and pressed his numerical advantage and taken Richmond in 1862, thus probably ending the war two years earlier.

I heard it as "If if's and but's were candies and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

So yes.

Yep, also see Ball State and Buffalo. Heck, what happens last night if Gavin Block doesn't hit that huge three when Miami was on a 14-0 run to get it 44-41?

Remember when I said I didn't view Akron as particularly that good when I watched them beat us to move to 5-0? During their 12-1 start, 5-6 of their wins could've easily bounced the other way. Meanwhile Ohio was losing dumb games that slipped away like EMU, Toledo, & WMU.

Yeah I am being an overly optimistic biased homer, but on a neutral court, I like Ohio more than anyone else right now. I didn't think I'd be saying that when Tony went down, but here we are.

I didn't see it coming either, but I like our chances against anyone right now. We are positively delightful to watch when we move the ball. That said, at Kent and home versus Buffalo will tell us a lot more about where we are now than any of the last four.

I'd throw Kent & Buffalo in there too. I'm very interested to see us match up with them the next two. We could really cement potential tourney faves with a pair of wins

For the record, I never used the words 'if' or 'but' 😉

This year's MAC Tournament has a lot of potential to be one of the craziest ever. A lot of parity and a lot of dangerous teams coupled with very good teams like Akron and Ohio that can find a way to lose to anyone on off nights. Throw in wildcards like Keene who can take a mediocre team and will them to a win on a great night and it should be fun for hoops fans. I don't think any team can honestly be comfortable with any match-up at this point. I think it will be a fun ride, and I hope it lasts through that Saturday.

Really, really, really, really, really want to avoid Keene and CMU in the MAC tournament. Let Akron and/or Buffalo deal with him. If Ohio has to face him in the semis or finals, fine. But not before that.

So...does this mean zipsnation has started their annual "wish we weren't in the sucky MAC because we deserve an at-large bid and can't get it because the MAC's sucky" thread?

Agreed. If there's a single player that can carry a team over three days, he's the one in my opinion. For that reason, the farther away from him the better.

I'm sure there are options I'm not trying, but looks like the winner of the CMU Toledo game this weekend will be in the upper part of the bracket and loser in lower part. With either the 1 or 2 seed getting CMU (assuming they win opening game) to open after a bye. Dangerous position.
