Not watching, but see via espn online that we're down 9 with about 6 minutes to go in a high-scoring game. High pace definitely is CMU's game. And I don't think that we can beat them at their game.

Overtime we hit a big shot to get it close keene just makes a 3 and takes us right back out.

This has been the best shooting performance by an opposing player I can ever remember. Not a lot you can do when a guy is making contested 25-footers all night.

Never seen a 16 minute stretch where it was a 4-7 point game and you felt like you never had a chance to even tie the game Flat out....this is a terrible matchup for OHIO. Good luck to any team facing CMU in the MAC Tourney.

Bottom line...if Carter continues to get in foul trouble we don't have a prayer. It's 4 against 5 offensively with DT on the court. It is what it is.

Russ just described Keene as a player he'd never seen before in the MAC. I'm not sure I don't disagree with him. There's no shot he can't make on the court tonight. Practially unguardable.

At this point, there's no way he's not the MAC POY, right?

He's got it locked up.

I'd seen perhaps 20-25 minutes of CMU play on TV this year before today. That was plenty to understand that Keane is very special.

He may not get NBA drafted but I gotta think (see Isiah Thomas of Boston Celts) Keane will definitely get a lot of consideration.

He would have easily won POY even if Tony was healthy and we would have also lost this game even if Tony was healthy.

And lost in the shuffle was Simmons 30 points...9 boards...and 9 assists. Crazy how Keene made it feel like Simmons wasn't even on the court.

Refresh my memory again, why did Marcus Keene originally go to Youngstown State and then when he does transfer, he goes to Central Michigan and not to Akron or our alma mater?

Keene is a beast, Simmons has stepped up tremendously. If we can get some consistency, we can win the MAC tourney.

Not many people wanted him. He was fairly unremarkable at YSU. The kid is the easiest MAC POY pick since Trent.

Wish I had a dime for every time Saul said on radio post-game shows that DT had a rough night. Dude should be getting better.....he's not.

He was good at YSU, he averaged 15 per, he wanted to play more point guard from what I understand.

You're like a dog with a bone on that kid. The team is lacking in size with two bigs down for the year. He has size, so he's going to play this year, and I imagine he's going to have some challenges since he's a sophomore getting his first season of significant minutes. You might as well get used to it.

Who was the last Ohio player to have back to back 30pt games?

Fun trivia question. Bassett almost did it in the MAC Tournament, going for 38 and 28 in back to back games. I think you have to go back farther to find the answer.

Good Question OU Country, off the top of my head I wonder if Dave Jamerson ever had back to back 30 point games? I know he scored 60 in a game once and averaged over 30pts per game in the 1989-90 season. I am not sure if Gary Trent went back to back 30 games or not either. I don't think he averaged 30 points in his final season, but I could be wrong. I don't think DJ Cooper ever went back to back 30 pts per game, I am sure someone could dig it up.

I know DJ never had back to back 30+, but big scoring wasn't really his game most of the time.

I would have to assume that if Jamerson averaged 30, he scored 30 two games in a row at least once.

I thought Carter could have a field day on CMUs bigs. He picked the wrong day to have a bad game. We just did not match up. We are too slow at every position. What happened to Culver the shutdown D? He played all of 1 minute.

OU Country, you're right makes perfect sense that Dave Jamerson had to string together a few 30 pt consecutive games if he averaged 30. He was the Player of the Year in the MAC in 1989-90, and yet we had losing season. If I remember right, it seems teams let him have his points just shut down a less than stellar supporting cast. You're right DJ wasn't billed as a scorer, but he could light it up on occasion.

One difference here is Jamerson played with a bad collection of overall talent, he'll they had to get a Lebold off the football team to play center. They played solid defense, but had zero offensive abilities outside of Dave.

I saw Keane play several games at YSU and thought he was a good player, but never thought I was seeing a great player. Kudos to him for getting better and transforming himself into a great player.
