Very important game for both teams for MAC Tournament Seeding.

Maybe we can keep Keene below 40 points?!

He puts up video game numbers!

Central Michigan plays at a super-fast pace and shoots a lot of free throws. The Chippewas don't play much defense. Keene has been a much more efficient scorer than Rayson this year. All five starters are a capable shooters from 3-point range, and the Chippewas shoot a ton of them (about 35 per game).

What happened to Keene from Youngstown to CMU? He has literally almost doubled his point production going theoretically up in competition level. It's a strange progression to me. It's odd, but I'm almost excited to see him play. Just hope no matter what he does individually, we come out on top.

Central has a season stat line that is way outside the norm. As Upsan says, over half their FG attempts are threes. They get to the line a TON and make 78%. Not sure any trick defenses would work against Keene and Brayson because they would just pass to other guys for threes.

Only way to beat this team is to carve them up with passing and score a lot of points.

Yep. Combine that with the limited number of home games remaining, and getting all three wins left to grab on the home court is really important.

Correction - getting all four wins on the home court.

Akron beat them 89-85 at Mt. Pleasant. Keene had 33 (but was only 2-8 from 3), Rayson had 27 and nobody else had more than seven. So maybe the secret is to let the shooters shoot and shut down everybody else. It also helped that Johnson matched Keene's 33. Gotta crash the offensive glass; Akron outrebounded them 16-8 on the offensive end, which in a four-point game likely made the difference.

I'd love to see Tony against these guys. He'd approach 40/20 (OK maybe not that much...but maybe). I expect a big game from JC in replacement.

I say we key in on Keane and give Rayson more room. Rayson isn't all that great of a shooter from the field but sure loves to shoot. Plus Keane is prone to the turnover, especially if he gets swarmed and rushed into a pass.

Tuesday night MAC hoops in Athens?? Going to need LeBron to draw more than 5K.

Not including the non-showing season ticket holders ( who are still counted), 5000 actual fannies in the seats would be a good guess. Let's make it loud enough that we sound like 8000. I will do my part.

No big diff per MAC BBall Tuesday or Wednesday (which has been the norm for years). We have had no problem with 6-7K for decent MAC weekday games over the years. Long time a player with Keene's national relevance has been in the Convo.

On Campus marketing/promotions is critical here - not sure what they have done. Maybe some excitement after the 'Kron game spills over to this one - at least any marketing dept worth their pay and pride should be expected to deliver on.....

CMU with their fast paced offense but only average record feels eerily similar to Marshall to me.

We didn't fare too well in that one. Hopefully things go better at home and we don't try to get into a run and gun scoring contest with them - because we have nobody who can score with Keene if it comes to that.

We better be able to run.

There is a big difference between Tuesday and Wednesday: high school basketball. Many of those in the Convo frequent the local high school games. And if they have family/friends that play, the high school game will usually win over a ho-hum midweek MAC game.

Also, they're doing Chick-fil-A and water bottles for students tomorrow: https://www.facebook.com/ohiobobcats/posts/10154767912100269

I've hated that all of the men's games are on Tuesdays now because I always have high school game responsibilities in north central Ohio on Tuesdays (and my Wednesday nights almost always are free). But I've noticed other parts of the state seem to play a lot of Wednesday night school games.

Opening at -1 with Akron seemed crazy to me, so hope that spills over.

I agree, which leads me to wonder, what is home court generally worth to the odds-makers? Six? More? Less?

Just to be clear, we are favored by 8.5, which, in gambling terms, means we are -8.5.

Typically around 3, but it can vary according to other factors.

Something to consider that is if in a normal-possession game, Ohio is perhaps 5 points better than Central Michigan, if the teams play at the same level for 120% of normal possessions, then Ohio would win by 6 points. Central Michigan's pace may add a point or so, good or bad, to its lines.

I agree, though, the line still seems big.

So since this is ESPN3, does that mean it has a Directv college extra slot? (meaning your average b-dubs will have game?)

Hold Keene to 35 points or less and OHIO wins this game. Now who wants to step up and play defense in the second half? And please....someone have a Big Man Camp lined up this summer for Doug Taylor. He has to learn how to at least make one offensive move in the paint heading into next season.
