. . . He actually said to us - "now you stand up." Haven't listened to their stuff ever since. You earn a standing ovation.
I'm clueless on the subject you are talking about, but I totally agree with this sentiment. This is one reason I don't like "stand for defense." It's contrived. If a student group started it, and the rest of the Convo crowd followed suit spontaneously, it would mean a lot more and I would respect it. Your comments remind me of the Simon and Garfunkel concert I went to years ago at the Convo with my then gf, now wife. They were so condescending to the audience and so full of themselves that it was sickening. By the end of their concert at least half the audience was booing them, and they had no idea why. Before this personal encounter I liked most of their music, after that I couldn't stand to listen to them.
The list of "great/famous" etc. artists who have been "boo'ed" en masse or off a stage at some point in their career is - well - Very LONG.......

Name a favorite of yours - I'm sure I can find a nasty "boo'ed", or "boo'ed off stage", or just did not even show up performance with a quick Google search......
I'll take the challenge. Here are three - The Eagles, Pink Floyd and Harry Chapin. Google away.

And speaking of the Convo rocking - check this out:

OK......

Pink Floyd - 67 tour after they had a pretty popular hit in Britain with "See Emily Play" - A pretty much standard pop style type recording for the day. Then on the tour they had a lot in audiences expecting a show set full of similar - but the show was of course full of avant garde/psychedelic/progressive material - and booing ensued...

Eagles - Search Salmon Festival - Free show for supporting a cause if I remember right - accompanied by egotistic/half interested appearance/performance....

Harry Chapin - well jeez. If he would have played at Altamount - may have been some jeers/yawns... :)

Per the Convo performers history - there were some amazing big acts play there back in the day. The group I was with at that Neil Young solo Trans tour show were certainly underwhelmed.....the Non-Trans album set was pretty good though.
