My question is, how much of that has to do with the type of player that the league wants? Seems like PG's aren't big enough unless they're 6'6", PF's need to be 6'10" 265+.

OhioStunter has it right - Rashaun Holmes from BG - drafted two years ago in the second round.

I still think it has a lot to do with how the league changed from the late 90's or so to recent years. Draftees always seem to be required to be huge physical specimens for the most part. Little guys like Curry or Earl Boykins are the exceptions to the rule. I'm not a student of the NBA, but I think you'll see less 3-4 year college players are drafted anymore in general. It's the 1-2 year kids and a lot more European players that seem to have changed the draft. The MAC's best players are usually 4 year college players, and don't fit that mold too well.

I'm clueless on the subject you are talking about, but I totally agree with this sentiment. This is one reason I don't like "stand for defense." It's contrived. If a student group started it, and the rest of the Convo crowd followed suit spontaneously, it would mean a lot more and I would respect it. Your comments remind me of the Simon and Garfunkel concert I went to years ago at the Convo with my then gf, now wife. They were so condescending to the audience and so full of themselves that it was sickening. By the end of their concert at least half the audience was booing them, and they had no idea why. Before this personal encounter I liked most of their music, after that I couldn't stand to listen to them.

I don't doubt what you say is true. Perhaps, it tells us more than we want to know about the true value of these groups to society and might be a clue that we should not, as a group, hold them in such high esteem. I should add that my oldest daughter and her friends once voted on the most nerdy Dad, and I won not only because of my amateur radio hobby and my high-tech orientation but because I knew less about popular culture than any of her friends' fathers. I'm actually quite proud of that award! ;-)
