Sleepwalked through the first 15 minutes of this one. Too much rust early tonight after a 6 day layoff & layup Miami that last game. Can't do that tomorrow and expect to win.

Just wow.

Take a look at the box score and explain to me how we won that game. I enjoy findings the difference in the box score, but I don't think this one tells me.

I like to do the same, but the beauty of the box score is you can always pull out the reason(s) you won. Turnovers & rebounds were basically flat. The key for this one was the 2 pointers, the inside game and mid-range jumpers - We were 60%, they were 40%. Never was this more apparent than in the final 20 seconds. The disparity in the 2s was enough to overcome them hitting 6 more 3 balls than us.

If you told me we'd shoot 5-22 from 3 and they'd be 11-26, I'd say we were toast. The fact we were able to overcome that bodes well for the rest of the week, in my opinion.

Slightly disappointed Saul didn't have a little fist pump for Kowalczyk.

About the only thing better than that finish was hearing my 3-year-old yell "WE WIN! WE WIN!" after I explained to her why Daddy was running around the basement fist pumping. Class of 2036 getting its first taste of Bobcats drama in March.

Worst fears being realized on the offensive end, all kinds of impatient low-percentage-unnecessary shots. 1 of 13 from 3, and we can't just say "well they aren't falling" because they're mostly terrible looks early in the shot clock. Carter & Block have shot 5 already. NO. STOP IT. Saul needs to orchestrate a serious adjustment.
Totally agree
At 10:30, 90+ minutes after the win, you agree? Interesting.

The original post was from an ugly first half, admittedly. The second half was largely solid, and Jason Carter was very impressive. I love watching that kid more and more every time he plays. Solid and steady describes him to the T in my opinion. Other that Simmons, he is Saul and Co's best recruit thus far.

I like him. I'd give his partner a dose of duct tape. He's dreadful.

I like him, too. He obviously studies the MAC and knows a lot about all the players. He occasionally mispronounces a name and he uses some trite expressions, but he seems to really love the MAC and brings some excitement to the game with his upbeat and enthusiastic commentary. I kind of view him as a poor man's Dickie V., who I also like. Some I know don't like Mr. V., but I really like his enthusiastic style, baby! ;-)

You didn't let me finish my sentence... We're in trouble if the game is only 15 minutes long.

You must have misread something because RS's response was at 7:10, just after I posted it. And I certainly stand by my comments, the shot selection was dreadful in the first 15 minutes. Credit the guys and coaches for the adjustment...The 2nd half was filled with ball movement and patiently creating open looks.

Apparently I had one too many "green" beers watching hoops. Apologies.

I've been seeing a few Toledo fans crying about the refs in this game.

I'm obviously biased, but to me it seemed like there was some questionable calls on both sides of the ball.

Who knows? Maybe the refs had it out for the Rockets... but it seemed like a pretty evenly officiated game to me.

If they're upset, the might consider looking at second half shooting numbers first.

Not sure if UT has any gripes. But I thought UB got several questionable calls go against them in the final game of the night.

Yeah, the grand total of eight free throws Ohio took in four of five trips to the line is a clear sign of the refs inserting themselves.

Fans always notice the questionable calls that go against their team but never the ones that they get. I can think of a number of calls against us (Block's two block calls, Carter not getting charge, Laster travel, etc.). There were only 26 fouls called on both sides on only 19 free throws. They had nobody in foul trouble. Not that much to gripe about.
