Smart...just don't see how the boys would be motivated to tee it up again with how the last 10 seconds of the season unfolded. Last year, I understood it. This year...no. The team obviously felt so as well.

Yes, I am also. They played a lot of minutes and I'm sure are tired both mentally and physically. Don't think they need to play more to get better/as more practice. As tired as their bodies are I would fear risk of injuries just to say we played a few more games.

Yep - only 4 MAC teams participating in post-season play.

NCAA: Kent St
NIT: Akron
CIT: Ball St
CBI: Toledo

I'd like to not pay and go on the road...where this team seems to be better anyway. Make Road Warriors out of the youngsters. By the time they are seniors maybe go into some big houses and knock them off. Learning experiences. Coach em up. Put em in positions to learn to not lose and learn how to survive and advance in a tourney format.
We were better on the road? Should we coddle the youngsters and sing them lullaby's? Do they have to wait until they become seniors to learn? I think they have heart and they can do whatever they set their minds too. It sounds articulate but somewhat is somewhat false and crazy. What were all the high school and AAU road games for? They have to confront their challenges and not be mired in mediocrity.

Can we stop acting like we refused a bid, this is getting to be a little crazy. We have to start being real.

I bet the presidential transition is a factor here in deciding whether or not to tee it up. McDavis would have been all in for some more games IMO.

So this decision was ok with most of you? It was ok to "Buy some games" last post year and many others, but not participate this season. So next season when they win 23 regular season games and lose in the conference tourney, Ohio will again say no post season tourney unless it is the NCAA. Sour grapes to me. Most athletes love the opportunity to put on a uniform one more time.

Low level bowl game for a 11th year head coach in football = good job coach

Playing in a low level post season tournament for a 3rd year coach in basketball = bad job coach, do better

This board is hilarious some times.

We should play in Europe this summer. AJ will not rim protect in the MAC. SP would be better off grooming ED or finding a JUCO, AJ will probably be a stretch four.
Is there some magical potion developed in Europe that will make better basketball players out of our guys? I've not heard of this. What would playing in Europe do exactly that they couldn't learn over here?

To me it depends on who made the decision. If it was the players that said no, then I'm fine with that. If it was a decision by the powers that be due to other circumstances, then I'm curious to question the decision.

No, Europe gives the team a chance to play against pro team with better fundamentals. I believe European games allow the young men to grow so that we don't make road warriors out of them.

Looks like we and Buffalo weren't the only ones to make this decision - from the Yale game notes following the Ivy League Championship yesterday -

NOTES: Barring an invitation to the NIT, which appears to be a long shot, Yale's season is over. The Bulldogs elected not to accept a bid to any of the other postseason tournaments…

Because the CIT is the big time?

I'm sure this team had legitimate reasons to pass on any invite. Arkley rattles of a number of them on his Twitter account.

I am fine withe decision that we probably DIDN'T make. I will play along. We put our foot down, Antonio Gates begged us to play, we said no. We will not make road warriors out of our kids. ESPN said Buffalo declined but they did not say we declined because SP probably made a call.

Toledo in the CBI. Only four MAC teams in the postseason is strange to see.

Nothing says bigtime like the CIT! Too bad we won't be playing with the big boys this postseason!
